i love essendon and the future looks bright i would prefer we dont make the top 10 and only win 5 games or less t get priority picks. The 3 drafts after this and we wont get anyone so we must find 3 or 4 very good yougnsters this year. We need some tall defenders as Ryder looks the only type and D.Myers i dont think could take the 2nd best opposition forward.

Slattery - Ryder - N.L.Murray
Dempsey - Mcphee - Myers
(Mcphee to take a lead up forward such as a reiwoldt or T.Cloke and Myers to take 2nd tall)
Houli - Watson - Winderlich
Hille - Mcveigh - Stanton

Lovett - Lucas - Welsh
Davey - LLoyd - Jetta

Laycock, Monfries, Rama, highest 08 draft pick

Do we (essendon) want Mundy?? Monfries is he a possible straigt swap

We?

Also everything you wrote is utter shit.

But at what cost?

If we come tenth, then the chances are our list is starting to come good, and the kids are well on their way.

If we come fifteenth, then we've been abysmal, and we need a long rebuild.

I know which I'd rather.

If we come 10th with the kids starring fine, I can't see it happening that way. I would rather play the kids, gain some experience this season and prepare for 2009 going forward. Honestly I see getting a A Class midfielder more important than coming 10th this season. It may be short term pain, but it should be long term gain.

So playing the likes of JJ and Pev is the only way we're going to finish 10th:confused:

I'm sick of losing, and we don't need to be shit to do well later. Players like Houli and Davey slip through the ranks all the time, and we can pick them up.

Yes, but it is more likely to get one in the top 5 picks. I see getting a Swift or Rich in our side as essential. If that means we have to lose a few then fine. I said at the start of this season is the development in our kids is the most important part. Whether we win 3 or 7 games, I really didn't care. All I want to see is the kids come in.

:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Why do we need Swift or Rich when we've got hILsOP!!!111!?

People jump on players' bandwagons all the time.

Have you ever seen Swift or Rich play?

Yes, I have seen both of them play. Seeing how we were today..well I can't see how or when we'll win another game. Disposals were horrid

We were playing one of the best sides in the AFL and we matched it with them for a half. The other half was horrendous, but the signs are there. Sydney's also the side best suited to stopping our run.

Yes and we got thumped by 12 goals, we are in a severe rebuilding phase. The quicker people around here realise this then we'll improve. If we come 2nd last with our youngsters playing most games and improving, I would call that a successful year

We either need a gun midfielder and a key backman, so it's either Rich or Hurley this year.

Not sure who we should go though. Heart says Rich, Head says Hurley.

No 8 this year and next year.
If we are not in the 8 by end of 2010, that's when I'll start getting worried.
Just let Knighters and the young blokes settle in. :thumbsu:

10th this year would be great,
but would be hard seeing where we stand at the moment.
I'll be happy with 12th...

GO BOMBERS 2010!!

All this talk about Richmond finally being about to do something, we beat Swans today and we're above your ass, LMAO about that! ;)
Can we LMAO now?

To finish 10th you will need about 10 wins to finish 12th you will need about 6 wins were will 4 more wins come from this season?

I can only see you beating possibly Carlton and Melbourne and the Carlton game is probably a 60/40 in Carltons favour.

I reckon you will finish 15th on 4 wins

All these young players as good as they may be eventually will take at least 3 to 4 seasons to develop before you begin to move forward. You guys are in for a long bumpy ride.

I'd rather come 14/15th this year than 11/12th. Neither equate to success, and there really isn't that much more of a sense of accomplishment finishing 12th anyway. We may as well play all our kids, take the spoon or something close, and ravage the draft whilst we can before the 17th and 18th team take everyone. I'm not suggesting we actively tank, just passively, through prioritising development over winning.

Whilst we shouldn't be aiming to lose games, we shouldn't be robbing our kids of experience just so that we can say we're not the worst for one year. By the time our kids have developed, who will care whether we finished 12th or 15th 5 years ago? And think about the drafting implications it holds.

This year is over. We should be looking towards winning our next flag, not focusing on finishing consistently 10th for the next few years. If you were offered the choice of 5 poor seasons and then a flag, or 6 mediocre seasons, you would take the first option. Well those are effectively our options.

Excuses!

We lost by more than 90 points against a team which were not playing at their best. It was bad. YES we matched them for a quarter and half but if anything that's bad! It means that it took less than 2 quarters for Sydney to find nearly 100 points on us. Not something to be happy with.

The biggest decision we will need to make come the end of the year is Rich or Natanui.

No they're not.

I'm not looking for excuses. I don't give a toss about the results, they're meaningless to us. What I look for is signs that players are going to be good.

Lonergan and Hislop showed that yesterday.

We'll be better in a couple of years, but Richmond are going to beat us next week, and I'll be delighted if we get above the bottom four in the ladder.
