Autopsy Etihad Stadium

Sort of didn't know which label to put on this so I put Autopsy.

What is it with Etihad stadium that;

1. Makes us play worse than the MCG
2. Our fans simply don't attend in anywhere near the numbers they do at the G.

Do we have to make a change and play all our home games at the G? I mean how many home games does Liverpool play away, or Man U, or the New York Yankees?

Just want some thoughts on why people don't get and why we don't seem to perform as well there as a team.

When we do play there it's often a stupid late Sunday game.

It's also crap seating for afl members.

Horse shit it has anything to do with the stadium.

This team is far too willing to be second man to the ball every time and also lack disposal efficiency. Combine the two and you get the rubbish performances we dished up today against a hungry Bulldogs outfit.

Beams, Sack and Maxwell out didn't help either.

I went to my first ever Etihad AFL game tonight, I don't like it, cause we lost.

I hate that I can't park. I hate the atmosphere when the roof is open and I hate it more when the roof is closed. Feels like I'm at a basketball stadium.

That's why I rarely get to Etihad.

The place has no soul, no character. It feels cheap and tinny, and we dont belong there. We have made the G our home since the 1990s, we play well there, we can fill the stadium and light it up when the army turns up to a good game. Footy has been played at the G for over 150 years. It just feels right.

I hate Etihad, cant stand it, and go under duress. Then I have to wait forever for a tram up Bourke St after the game, which often - inexplicably - stops at Russell St and we all have to get out and wait until another turns up to take us out of the city.

What else? Horrible food offerings. And a cold wind straight off Victoria Harbour and in through the gates which hits you on the back of the neck when sitting on Level 1.

I've gone to one Etihad game since 2008. If we played some bigger games there I'd certainly go but I just hate it.

I said it during the week but it's absolutely beyond stupid that we play our home game at our opponent's home ground. Meanwhile, Essendon played their home game against Melbourne at the MCG - and also got beaten.

The competition is flawed

On so many levels.

Cola have Tippet and Franklin, and an easy draw.

We are the big beast. Almost everyones Grand Final. Well done Dogs, you won yours.

It's also, to interstate teams, a final simulation when they play the Pies at the MCG. Exhibit Port in Round 22.

We play too many blockbuster when we want and contend for top four.

And if we have to play interstate teams in Melbourne then it should be at Etihad the shithole that it is.

And then we'll have, some respite, to a certain level, a true home game against shit clubs, they are the Dogs, Saints and NM, whose home ground is too small to be at the MCG.

In the end, we lost because the other team wanted it more. Well done Dogs was your grand final, but I respect you unless you injected yourself with peptides.

And yes we lost but we're not Essendon, to change the subject a little, there'll always be next week.

We are good for the game and a great club!

It's nuts we play any home games at Etihad.

I reckon the club should negotiate to play every home game at the MCG, and play an extra away game against an interstate team.

That'd make our Victorian fans happy (more games at MCG) and our interstate fans happy (better chance of them seeing a game)

Completely ridiculous fixturing. They had us play Adelaide on the Thursday, then 3 weeks later we have to play on a Monday, then 3 6-day breaks in the 4 games after that.

Our game against Hawthorn in round 23 will be on the Friday night at least. They play in Perth on the Sunday at 4.40 in round 21 against Freo and then Geelong on the Saturday night in round 22. They should be cooked by the time they play us

I did hear it mentionned somewhere today that this is the last year that Pies are contractually obligated to play 2 home games at Docklands. So if this is true, from next year we'll only to go to that souless hole once or at most twice.

We're the biggest sporting organisation in the country, surely we should play ALL of our home games at the biggest stadium in the country. Etihad is not our home ground and we should play no home games there.

Didn't help that the AFL classed this game as an 'A' game, was never going to get the required crowd for that status.

Also can we piss that 'Get Loud' Rev meter off, first time I've seen it all year as I can only get to a few games and that was embarrassing, we don't need those sort of gimmicks.
