I am all of a sudden quite bullish about our chances.
Since the Essendon game, we've been the best performed team along with Hawthorn.
We've beaten three of the top four sides - two of them by five goals plus.
We smashed Essendon who was in the 8 at the time, and beat a desperate St Kilda - playing for their season - by seven goals. Our only loss was by less than a goal to West Coast, when the team we put out shouldn't have gotten within 30 points on paper.
All our key players are in good form. We have the shortest injury list we've had all season.
We lost three games interstate by less than a goal, and lost to Collingwood after leveling the scores with 90 seconds left. If we'd won just one of those games, we would have finished 4th.
We debuted more players than any club bar GWS yet finished a game out of the top four and just two games behind Hawthorn.
Fremantle is in good form, but we couldn't have asked for a better elimination final than them at the MCG. Win that, and we're off to Adelaide or Sydney - two teams we've comfortably beaten in the past six weeks. Win that and it's a date with Hawthorn or Collingwood and from there anything's possible....
No team wants to play us with Selwood, Hawkins, Scarlett, Kelly, Chapman, Bartel, Johnson, Taylor, Lonergan, Mackie, Podsiadly etc all in September form as they were on Saturday.
We are Geelong.
