Ha. I was coming here to post on this! Here's how the BBC wrote it up;
haha! it explains the process of speciation , completely new species coming into existence due to "humans". So why on earth do people believe that evolution cant happen for millions of years and millions of years of climate changes, geographical changes and who knows whatelse? its only logical to conclude that we have evolved naturally than god directed miracle. Divergence occurs and thats a PROVEN theory, its observable and testifiable , yet these religious people think its just a theory.
Also, the Californian Salamander, another example of evolution unfolding as an observable occurance;

https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/07/110705211022.htm

That is a good, funny i was about to post this as well. To all these religious fundies claiming "have you seen evolution in action", i suggest its time for you to hide. I just dont get it why the **** do we need god here, when entirely new species came out of a natural process.

Point still stands....Life & consciousness are mysteries unfathomable to science.

The way I see it, science is always moving forward. It isn't a case of 'what isn't known now can NEVER be known in the future' any more than it is that a child of four knows all the ins and outs of the 'adult' world.

Science, human understanding, may only be a four year old child right now compared to what the 'adult' universe at large holds for us. I mean, show someone from the Middle Ages something such as the mapping of our genetic makeup in the Human Genome Project and tell them that those strands of DNA is what we're made of.

What kind of Black Magic Sorcery would you be talking about?

We're only beginning to figure all this shit out. We're still babies, really, in our knowledge of all things.

This is exactly the point, Richard Dawkins says its all a "mystery" and rightly so, its all a mystery indeed BUT P35 he went on to conclude its all about god. This is what philosophers prey on IMO. We dont know everything and scientists dont pretend that they do. This is a very very neutral position to have.

Btw geelong_sicko, do you think "murder is wrong" is a fundamental law of the universe?

I'm totally not sure. Fundamental as in 'essential'? For a cohesive inclusive society, absolutely. But seeing how we're the only sentient life form intelligent enough to understandably communicate in our universe so far, 'murder' as a concept must be seen as exclusively ours to contend with, as are 'right' and 'wrong' in general. Lions don't murder, even though they, as most felines do, undoubtedly toy with prey and kill for pleasure as well as food. Sharks don't murder.

It is our intelligence which differentiates. Our empathy. The human born (or raised - there's a whole nature/nurture argument in itself here that criminologists wet themselves over) without empathy is classed as a sociopath or a psychopath, and feared by the collective. But even within humanity, some are more equal than others. Many say state-sanctioned killing/murder is the way to go in some criminal cases. Others say it's right to 'honour kill' those who bring shame on their families.

Human values are not universal, and I'd say this is due to intellectual evolution (in some cases) rather than just the physical. Values rise with circumstance and surroundings, and vary because of it too.

This is what i said too, but obviously p35 is not willing to listen! (i hope you are reading p35, again not very ojective is it ;) let me frame the question in a different way, "do you believe in absolute morality"? i assume its a no cause you dont believe human values are universal?. P35 seems to think human nature is the same across culture, race and religion. Couldnt be more misguided.

how many do you fall for? i can see p35 falling for a few straight away :D

As I said, the theory of evolution as you understand it is bullshit. The Charles Darwins of the 20th century were paid to tell us smoking is good for us. Todays Charles Darwins tell us global warming isn't real.
Science proved that smoking is not good for us.
There was a campaign by vested interests to confuse the science, which ultimately failed. Much like the campaign by the profit driven vested interests of the Alternative Medicine industry against vaccines.
Whilst no one is stupid enough to believe anymore that smoking is healthy, some people still deny the mountain of science supporting germ theory and vaccination. It's unbelievable I know, but I can assure your that there are still some of these idiots are out there

Funny people rubbishing the Theory of Evolution and science are almost always the ones who have no basic understanding of science, you dont have to go that far just read p35's posts. Apparently evolution is "just a theory" and nothing more than that. You cant get any more naive than this, there is a mountain of evidence supporting evolution. If creationists questioned "their beliefs' the way they put the theory of evolution through the ring of fire i can guarantee you we would not be having this discussion about creationism at all. There is zero evidence supporting creationism, absolutely ZERO. I would say theres some evidence about aliens even (not that i have believe in it but theres some argument out there). But god... come on, whom you kidding. When you say a mans nature is the same across race religion and creed you have no ****ing idea.. honestly.

It's quite funny how a 12 year old gets metaphysics, but supposedly sophisticated scientists cannot even grasp the simplest of principles.

Those lost & invested enough in their ego-intellect, who imagine science to be the singular method of knowledge acquisition, have indeed been 'taken-in' by the modern scientific method.

Simpletons.

Says the man who said "mans nature is the same across all cultures, race and religion".

I do get metaphysics, i dont get idiocy, the fact that everything is relative, your metaphysics dont tell you hey? since you are such an expert in metaphysics what do the eastern religions say about absolute truth? specially buddhism?

Religions just Hinduism talks about necessity of other religions as "one size fits all" does not apply as mans nature is not the same everywhere. What you are arguing is a universal one size fits all law, then one religion would be suffice for everyone. I am very well educated in religion regardless of what you think, your position is absolutely moronic and you havent got a single person to support your "universal truth"

After being proven wrong about universal truth, not just by me, by others as well you still keep insisting that you are right, i have given you are a fair chance to prove you are right and you have failed on every occasion

Your logic is infallibly idiotic yet again.

Are you a wizard?

You obviously haven't heard of the pyramids. You probably should change that. chances are you're also very bigoted toward indigenous history.

You obviously didn't know that at the mouth of the Murray is an island shaped like the womb and they knew and labelled it sacred ground thousands upon thousands of years ago.

There's little doubting that science & technology are in many respects just beginning; & that their recent advancements & results have been little short of miraculous....No doubt a major cause for so many deferring to the scientific method as the only efficacious method of human progress & understanding.

However, the fact remains that science is a human endeavor, utilizing the conceptual tools & awareness, inherent in the human condition....Science, as a tool of man, can build upon our store of knowledge & understanding, but it cannot circumvent the nature of that comprehension....Science begins with mankind & ends with mankind.

Think of it in terms of a hierarchy of being: Nature>Man>Science.

It is the praxis of science that wins over it's many converts....But it still doesn't alter human nature one iota.

Was it more of less shaped like a womb thousands and thousands of years ago?
It had to be one or the other....
Just like the constellations.....
They are completely different now than only 150,000 years ago.
They are very different than even when the Egyptians built the pyramids....

Not that I have any issue with ancient ritual and belief in it's social context.
You can't base your understanding of the universe on it.
The mouth of the Murray is definitively not a womb no matter what it looks like unless you are going to start redefining common English meanings of words.

Never even mentioned griffins.
Does Harry have unicorns and tooth fairies in it?

I assume you won't be answering the valid question about the shape of the Murray mouth then, because you can't and will be using using "bigotry" as your smoke screen?

People(imbeciles) and im not looking at anyone, still believe this about Australia when the poms invaded.
