Lol! thanks for proving me and what Tyson said above right ;) what a great moral example he is, no wonder his followers are all stuffed up too

Taking your theological cues from an astrophysicist makes as much sense as asking Kim Kardashian for her take on the global financial crisis

You have chosen to go down another tangent, which is further evidence the confidence in your fence sitting is dwindling.

You think you're open minded, open minded people dont take atheism seriously. They're (athiesst) mostly bigots, to blind and insecure to see the truth in front of their eyes. the evidence of a god is everywhere, in every culture, in every cultures art, music, religon and ceremony. Sane intelligent people do not miss this.
Surely being open minded cuts both ways?

And taking your theological clues from a genocidal slave loving maniac makes a lot of sense too. You have convinced everyone of a higher moral being congrats :thumbsu:

I didn't try to convince anyone of the existence of anything. Just pointing out how hilariously weak your argument was

Except that, how can we judge the morality of anything except by our own standards? We have only our own frame of reference and I'll happily stick to that when it comes to determining what's right or wrong.

Do you know, genocide is ok as long as god does it, for men rules are different, but we are suppose to pray to that being who loves genocide.

I don't believe that was the question.

Regarding morality, if God told you to go out and kill 100 people, just because, would you do it? Or would you question it? Would you not think 'even if these people are guilty of something, should they not be tried and convicted? If they're just picked at random, is it fair to pull the trigger?'

If the Christian God is real, then it's ridiculous to hold him to your own moral standards. Pointing to supposed immoral actions of His hardly makes for a coherent argument against His existence.
I thought the post was a critique of said alleged "gods" demeanor, rather than a his/her/it's alleged existence.

You should read Michael Shermers "why people believe in weird things", conducted a thorough research on different belief systems and people are prone to that (not just god, but others as well).. great book.

The evolution of religions is very simple and can be explained easily. This is a famous experimented conducted in the 70's

That's funny. I explains why (those who shall not be named) on here think the way they do.

This experiment been repeated on gorillas and chimps as well, successfully, we are not much different. The experiment speaks a lot about evolution and human behaviour as well

You'd have to assume his existence to start talking about his demeanour, so the argument still fails.

Anyway, back to thread topic. I'm eyeing off this book: https://www.amazon.com/Runaway-Brain-Evolution-Human-Uniqueness/dp/0465031315 which purports to explain how humans came to be so much more intelligent than can be explained by natural selection alone. It was referred to a lot in books by Pinker and others that I used to read.
