Media Faceless Men Should Scrap Bottom 10

... In my eyes there are other people who have stood out more posting wise but my ideals on a good poster are probably completely different to those of you and your fellow power group. If each club voted on a representative that would be better and highly likely this same power group may occur, i'm just against anything autocratic which is what you guys are doing, you're basically saying you are better than us and then telling us why, way to make people feel good.

There's the catch. Everyone is going to have different views on who should make the panel. IMS sought the opinions of the other 7 for his reasons, a different panel would have different results. What would have happened if a club appointed panel had released a bottom 10 list, the same complaints would be aired I'm certain of that.

The reason why I don't make lists is because I would have to put posters I don't like near the top because of what they do for the league.

If people can't get over having to do that they shouldn't be making lists.

I just think it would be easier to accept criticism from a group of people who were chosen by their peers. Like I said we could still end up with the same group but at least everyone in the league has had a chance at voting who they would like on the group from their team, makes receiving the grim new more bearable or enjoyable.

I can see how that could soften the blow, but I see an open selection process being open to manipulation i.e. "You represent the Bombers provided nobody gets a bad vote from Baghdad". Plus any personal grudges (as is happening now) would still play out.

I'm not saying that it's right but those that feel hard done by may feel less angry if they actually were involved in choosing this group.

The 8 folks chose themselves because this is their idea and not a league/administration concept delegated to assignees. To an extent, the gravity you attribute to this list need not be any different to that attributed to the shortlived list Mr Zero was working on. It's just some people saying some stuff.

Sure it makes them appear full of themselves, sure it causes fear amongst the "rated" that the weight of numbers/reputation makes this a heavier hitter, but when it comes down to the crunch it's actually just another list - that happens to be a collaboration - about how good everybody's keyboard warrior skills are.

The only real case for criticism I feel exists here is that, with 8 people putting their heads together from different teams to see what - getting 8 people from different teams to put their heads together might generate - it's disappointing that what came back was, shock horror, a player base ranking concept. I was hopeful there might have been something more truly creative in the offing.

If you really feel the need to temper your approach because of what some people are saying about you, feel free to ask me for suggestions. Beware though, I - also - am just a person, and by no means perfect. I spammed like an idiot last match thread, too.
Let me go back into the OP and see the names, and I'll fill in the blanks.

I really don't think there would be this much of an issue if everyone had turned up to pantskyle party. Clearly the power group are upset because they missed out on all the shenanigans we had.

Funnily enough it got me on the list....They were all invited.

With Bullying & depression ripe in todays society I feel this Bottom 10 flogs list is an extention of that & thus should be scrapped asap like yesterday

to be honest Gibbsy should not have been picked, surely Easty would have been a much better selection. Gibbsy rarely posts quality.

These people I haven't seen much of, thats not saying they aren't posting and stuff but too be honest I haven't seen alot of them from my time here this season. The only time I've seen eth is because there was a thread where everyone was tagging him other than that nothing. You only answered the first part of Brokens question. .. I assume the first part, so thanks for the vote of confidence. ..

Itsmyshow (Hawks) - This was his initiative plus if you haven't seen him around the board you're not looking very hard, active with a good mix of flog and hack. .. ahem quality (Can only think of Bonce as a possible replacement)

Wise Guy Sam (Wonders) - One of the highest rated posters on the board, especially this season. ..

BILC (Furies) - The guy has been rated highly by the board over several seasons, there are a couple from the Furies Filthy Sanchez and equus that would have been good too but BILC is quality. ..

Gibbsy (Dragons) - Highly underrated, does heaps for the league in the background and a very balanced poster. .. Who else from the Dragons would you choose?

Eth (Demons) - Does a lot of background work for the league and I cannot think of another balanced poster from the Demons that could replace him. . Deddy, could have been an option once he was around a bit longer. ..

The final point is that the eight members seem to respect the other seven members and its been a good venture so far. .. I applaud IMS in deciding to make a representative from each club. ..

For the sake of Completion. ..

Broken (Roys) - Unimpeachable

Claypigeon (Gumbies) - All round awesome guy

I appreciate the reasonings you provided for the power group choices, in the instance of IMS you claim I haven't looked hard enough for his posts, whereas in my opinion if the name hardly rings a bell to me then clearly that person has made little to no impact on me in a good or a bad way. This is by no means a bad refelection on IMS but yours and my opinion of him are completely different. It's harder for me to respect a persons opinion if I think they are a nobody (again I don't think IMS is a nobody but I haven't seen him enough to rate his opinions of me). The more I think about it this type of poll is never going to go down that well as clearly there is angst between a few of the power people and those in the bottom 10 and that just adds fuel to fire. Luckily I can take heat and make fun of myself and also take on board constructive criticism, I think I'm probably only offended that the opinions are based by people with whom I don't necessarily rate myself because I haven't seen them offer that much to the SFA whilst i've been here.[/quote]
