Re: Cuddles is a dead man walking

What is with putting a man behind the ball to start the game? It hasn't worked for us all season while Farmer's been out - we have no crumbers, and the opposition carry the ball from defence too easily after we kick for Pavlich. Why play with a tall forward line as well when they're out numbering us up there and clearing it away so easily when it hits the ground? THIS HAS HAPPENED ALL SEASON. Why did we not man up after the behind. There was less than a minute to go! Forget the ****ing gameplan!

The team's first instinct is to whinge to the umpire. The team's first instinct is to go the man in preference to the ball. The team waits outside the contest for our a Freo player, up against 3 or more, to win the ball and receive the cute handball. We're out numbered at basic contests every time.

Why does it take so long for us to move the ball forward? Or kick out from goal?

Why does Sandliands never kick? When he gets a free kick/mark, his play is telegraphed because he looks for the handball off EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Connolly's a stickler for his bogus "gameplan". If he isn't sacked soon then this is a joke. And if we go the trade this off season in preference to bringin in young talent - then **** the FFC.

I don't feel for him. He took the ultimate gamble at the end of last season. It was more in his best interests than the long term interests of the club. Has having Tarrant improved our game? No. And now, after Connolly goes, we have massive dearth of talent between 18-21. He took the risk for his career rather than the calculated option for the long term benefit of the club.

I'm happy to wave him goodbye.

His time is up but youve got to feel for the bloke.

I do feel for him. Likeable guy, community minded.... but coaching is gladitorial bloodsport. Perform or Die. Our season just died. I hope it isnt done messy like with how they arsed Drum.

I think its ironic that Connolly's golden boy, Scott Thorton arguably just missed a goal that could have saved Connolly's career.

Thorton is just not an AFL footballer. Noone who plays at the top level should miss a shot like that.

Thornton played a great game. Its other guys which CC has backed in that has backfired bigtime. I'm sorry but if you can't run your not a midfielder's ********. No surprise that our 9 game winning streak co-incided with far less game time for this guy.

He practically puts our midfield 1 guy down from the get go.

Can anyone remember the last time Hasleby ran to recieve. You can't be a stoppage specialist, then be held quiet when we come up against a team like Sydney. It means your failing, and failing badly.

CC will fall on his sword, sadly because he's put faith in players who have let him down.

Thornton was Shithouse and is 1 of the reasons we fail 25 yrs old and has reached his potential which isnt at the mark. Has no heart and just points. He is not the only one but the one that sticks out the most.

Thornton has played well, he gives us some drive which we lack. He didnt lose it soley, Tarrant missed a couple sitters completely. Macca missed a sitter, Pav did. The blame goes across the team, the seagulls and loose checking are responsible.

The midfields crud, cant get us clearances consistently.

Connolly Resign now

Time for him to resign and keep is dignity opposed to being sacked, Phill Smart should go with him. Harvey or German should be the caretaker coach for the remainder of the season there is no way we are going to make the finals.
Next week i want Foster, Ibbotson, Farmer, Drum, Duffield and Warnock all in the side, they are our future not Gillmore and Macca etc...

Board Gut Check

If the board had any guts to do what needs to be done they will sack CC this week. Hand over the interim job to Harvey or German, see how the club goes for 7 rounds.

At season's end, weigh all that up and MOVE FORWARD but DO IT NOW. Even more so if they need to stir some fire under Pavlich to stay at Freo.

7 more rounds of CC at the helm is not going to help or solve anything IMO.

Rightly or Wrongly CC needs to get the sack this week, cut off the gangrene.

Spot on, and I'll add that once a gain our accuracy lost us the game as it has in other games going back months - what have we done about it?

I think CC should be given the option of going now (or when we have blown our final two chances inthe next fortnight) or at the end of the year.

There are some clubs in Melbourne that are known for getting rid of coaches as soon as things turn bad. In a two team town with extra scrutiny from (allegedly) a biased press it would not be good for us to attract a similar reputation.

We have come a long way since CC has been coach- not far enough, but a long way- and he should be recognised for his contribution to that improvement.

On similar lines Parker should be given a retirement game - possibly the game against Melbourne. Let him bow out with grace.

Of course all this is assuming that we don't perform a miracle and win 7 in a row to storm into the finals. :o

I can only speak for the city end, but our forward structure was a bloody joke today. Dessie was the closest we got to a small forward, and he spent a lot of time up the ground. Surely Schammer, Bell, Crowley, Hasleby and McManus had to be rotated through the forward pocket.

At one stage our forward line consisted of Pavlich, Tarrant, Sandilands, Solomon and Murphy.

Should leave the house - don't embarass yourself further.

Good luck @ Melbourne.

HARV's - YOU HAVE 7 WEEKS!

Re: Cuddles is a dead man walking

We looked most dangerous when Bell put HIMSELF down in the forward line and roved the loose crumb in the 3rd quarter. Yet to start the last quarter we see NO CRUMBERS again. Subsequently, we try to bomb the ball into the forward line hoping Pav, Taz or Murphy will take a mark. They don't, and the spare Roos player sweeps it out of defence too easily.

We could have killed to have Bell down forward for periods of the game, but Connolly insisted on a tall forward line.

He is an absolute fool and has to go.

Yep, we missed The Wiz big time, and bringing murph in to be the third tall didn't work. I thought due to Schammer and Hase doing SFA CC may have swung one of them into there to crumb to Pav and Taz, but he knows best:rolleyes:

That's sealed it...you are a rolled, gold toss pot...Pavlich, Carey, Ablett, Dunstall, Lockett...They never would've missed that.

Gee, thanks Bruce...

Unlucky guys, I was hoping you would win. :(

Do feel a bit sorry for Connolly, seems like a genuinely nice bloke and gives a lot more to the media and fans than Woosha seems to do, but I guess in footy you gotta have the runs on the board and unfortunately for him he doesn't and it looks like his time may be up.

Good luck for the rest of the season :thumbsu:

What's Benny Allens phone number ?.

Players need a major rocket too, you must play with pride. The media have got stuck into CC but I reckon the players have got off lightly.

I am frustrated and to put it simply the players heads are too full of tactics, that they don't know how to use their initiative and seize an opportunity when it occurs. They have become robots.

I don't see CC getting the sack this week.
If we show up to play adelaide with little interest and get done by 15 goals then he will be gone. But if we show up and only lose by a few goals he will keep his job.

For CC to go before the season is out he needs one of the old style classical "coach killing games" were the side gets smashed and plays terrible. If the team continues on it's win, loss, win, loss record he will survive. But you only need one really shocking result like a 12 goal loss and he will be gone. That is actually quiet a high chance of that, some of our players are still pansies even when we have our finals campaign on the line. Imagine how soft some of the players will be when there is nothing to play for.

There is no doubt he will be gone come seasons end. I think most of us have just accepted this, but the team really needs to fall apart in a big way in one game for him to go prior to the season finishing.
