That is wicked silverscope

I wish my Mrs was as understanding about my need for that much free time :D

haha yeah I've been putting off the story and missions to do random material finding extraditions. That's why Strong came in handy, I could palm heaps of shit off to him and make less trips back and forth.

The time consuming part was the materials but with supply lines it's fairly easy now to set up a quick decent base.

Also get a TV that's not in the bedroom! For me, the boy goes to sleep, wife goes to sleep and there is a couple hours (mostly 3 or 4 really, oops who needs sleep) of gaming a night easily.

http://gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/244001/what-contributes-to-the-settlement-size-limit

The size budget is a polygon count designed to keep your frame rate steady by preventing you from building massive and overly complicated settlements. The size limit and current size used are actually attributes against the workbench in the settlement itself and differ between settlements.

This is calculated based on the number of objects in the settlement in combination with the size and complexity of the objects. More complex objects have a higher polygon count and as such use more of the budget. Scrap contributes to this limit so you could "fill" a settlement and then go around destroying all of the broken beds, cups, chairs, etc and have more budget available to build more.

These numbers can be changed using console commands on the PC on a per settlement basis, although it is not recommended.

To get/set the triangle count limit:

  • getav 348 - shows the current number of triangles used by the player
  • getav 349 - shows the current maximum of triangles usable by the player
  • setav 349 - set the maximum triangle limit
To get/set the draw call count limit:

  • getav 34A - shows the current number of draw calls used by the player
  • getav 34B - shows the current maximum draw call limit usable by the player
  • setav 34B - set the maximum draw call limit
Make sure you're looking at the workbench of the settlement when you use these commands.

No one has randomly come to my town for ages. I got I think about 16 people and it hovers at 80-82% happiness. I got more than enough beds, food, water, heaps of defence, shops but it isn't helping much.
I have assigned many people to my shops but no one really tends to be the shopkeeper there which is pretty damn annoying. There is always one at the first aid, sometimes at the general but no one ever is at the weapons/ammo one.

Yep same for me in sanctuary. I assign a settler to the weapons stand, they go yep no worries then proceed to walk off in the opposite direction. Anyone have any ideas?

Supposedly the stands only open between 8am and 8 or 10pm.

If you assign them during the closed hours they won't go. Wait till morning.

If they've been assigned successfully you should be able to barter with them whether they're at the stand or not

Pretty sure I have tried to assign during daylight hours but cheers will give it a go.

Don't think the connection is even being made, the stand doesn't highlight when you select the settler you just assigned to it.

Kind of interesting how caps don't have weight. Sure they don't weigh much but if you were lugging around a million of them I'm sure that would slow you down, and probably put a huge target on your back. Even those who think themselves good people may be tempted to sneak a few caps off of you.

Neither does ammo, even stuff like missiles and mini nukes. I'm kinda thankful, struggle to carry around all my sh1t as it is.

If and when a patch comes out, I hope they fix the notifications for when one of your settlements is under attack. A small subtle green bit of writing sneaking its way on to my screen doesn't exactly get my attention when im fighting hordes of mutants and synths...

Really annoying going back to Abernathy farm to discover 90% of my crops and turrets and generators are destroyed. Game needs a bigger red flashing notification in capital letters.

Yep and a distinctive sound cue please

Did anyone else have trouble building that thingy to get into the Institute?

Nope just had to make sure it's all on the same grid so connect your gens to a power pole and then run lines from the pole to the various parts

Spent quite a few hours making The Castle my main settlement last couple of nights. Pretty happy with the end result.

Main wall is guarded by 6 turrets and a guard post

Decided not to have a junk gate (too small). So designed something i like to call the gauntlet - a main entrance that is 3 cement blocks high and 3 deep. An open longer chokepoint guarded by 3 heavy laser turrets and 3 heavy machine gun turrets.

The top level i have 2 green footlockers with cryo mines and grenades. Should any mobs make it to the guantlet and face the 6 turrets it would be nice to freeze them in place :) I used rails on the edges so i dont accidentally fall off. Also had to use sleeping bags to cover the gap between the cement pillars and the wooden platform.

Platform frame has 4 generators, and 12 ladders which i tried to make symmetrical - even with the wires. Got a bit OCD towards the end of construction.

Rear wall is less exciting, just a simple guard post and 3 turrets, but its a much smaller path so hopefully thats enough

Should they make it to the rear door, the narrow room leading into the castle has 4 shotgun turrets inside...

I blocked off the 2 damaged side walls of the castle, but only on the outside. I like how the inside crumbled section acts as a natural staircase giving me access to the top

Started to run out of materials at this point. Copper, aluminium and even ceramic were depleted. Got 1 more idea that i would like to implement and will post the results if it works. Havent doen any questing for a few days now :)

What did you use for the walls?

The concrete ones are shack foundations.

Go to wood structures>floors. Cycle through them and you'll find the raised concrete ones. You can stack several on top of each other to make concrete walls

They make awesome fences as you can vary the depth they penetrate into the ground. Handy when its undulating and you want it all on the same level. You can build on top of them too as they are a floor

Burn through concrete tho

Got all the bobbleheads.
Level 44 now, trying to get the perk from Preston but he's boring and I dunno if I'm even close.
That's my problem with companions. Takes so friggin long to up their happiness in your friendship. I usually get bored of them and swap them out.

Swapped Valentine for Cait last night. I want some junky booty
