I mentioned before Im doing a playthrough of Fallout 3.

Im becoming more skeptical that the depth of the world can be created without NPCs in the world.

An example. I came a across a town in the wasteland. The characters were 50s American Fred and Maude types. Patriots, cheery and old fashioned. An old guy runs up to me and says don't look in the basement. So I hunt around for a key. Find one. In the basement are 10 flayed skeletons in cages that were cannibalised by the families. Later one of the wife wishes "She'd love to prepare me for dinner one day". I hope that kind of world will be created, not just combat and team shooter lulz.

And Im using a speech build so I assume all the good stuff that comes from that will be gone.
Andale rules. So does the Republic of Dave

**** you.

Just kidding. Anyone try the beta? Honestly think ill skip this. Hate online gaming and with no npcs cant see myself playing.

Beta hasn't started yet

B.E.T.A to start in October

Hi everyone,

Popping in to say that it’s been very fun seeing everyone’s discussion on Fallout 76 and what your hopes and thoughts are about the game. I and members of the studio regularly lurk, and it’s been great to read through your questions and feedback. With that in mind, we know you’re anxious to learn more about the game and more specifically, about the B.E.T.A.

Starting in October we’ll be selecting people who have pre-ordered the game from a participating retailer to enter our B.E.T.A. We’ll start small and grow over time as we prepare for launch. Be sure you’ve read our F.A.Q., for details on how to redeem your B.E.T.A. code and other important details.

EDIT: To clarify, everyone who pre-orders at a participating retailer will be included in the B.E.T.A.

Beyond that, we know you have numerous questions about the game. Things are still changing and being iterated on, so we cannot answer everything yet, but we encourage you to submit your questions. During the Fallout 76 panel at QuakeCon we’ll be answering some of your questions. If you’re in Dallas, come join us. If you’re not able to make in person, you can check out all the fun via the live stream airing on Mixer. Send questions our way by posting them here in the forums, on any of the Fallout subreddits, Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram.

Thank you again for all your patience, discussion, feedback, and thoughts as we get closer to the launch of Fallout 76!

According to Pete Hines on Twitter there will be smaller limited preBETA groups before the main BETA which everyone can play
So only a month before the game releases, wouldnt think they would have enough time to fix up issues that arise through the B.E.T.A

It will pretty much be server stress testing, maybe a hefty day 1 patch with things they can fix

Started replaying NV, forgot how tough the first 10 hours were to grind through.

Watched a bloke finish 1 2 3 nv and 4 in 88 minutes the other day. Nv is a 25 minute game apparently :p

Reddit throwing a huge tantrum because this won't be on steam and only through the bethesda launcher

Reddit throwing a tantrum? Say it isn't so :$

People need to get over the fact this isn't a normal Fallout game, not to mention that Fallout Shelter was hugely successful and it too launched on Bethesda.net before it came to Steam so ultimately I doubt it will be an issue.

Apparently steam take 30% of sales is it any wonder companies want their own launcher, essentially giving away 30% for nothing.

If more companies did this then Valve might start actually making games again

I guess they have to weigh up letting Steam take 30% vs. the development, maintenance, and running costs of their own platform. Not to mention managing the shitfest that is fickle gamers crying over minor thing. With Fallout 76 being an online only game it's probably easier to bring the launcher in-house because they'll already be throwing money at servers.

Looking at the popularity of Fortnite and WoW, which both run off their own launcher, the fact people see this is a massive issue is both amusing and sad. I'm not a fan of working with multiple launchers but it's not the end of the world.
