Just a bit of fun, but I took part in a fantasy trade week (and this week am taking part in a Fantasy Draft week) and just thought I'd open up a thread for discussion on;
Well... mainly how well/shit I did.
But basically just a thread for some light hearted discussion.
This was my 'mission statement' if you will;
What Melbourne want:
- Solid stopgap key forward (While other options develop, but believe me I'll also be happy to entertain trades for quality)
- Small forward
- Quality young midfielder
- Rebounding defender with excellent disposal
Deals:
No.1
- Justin Koschitzke for Matthew Warnock
I saw this as an opportunity to get a strong marking presence for nothing, and someone who can turn a game.
No.2
- Clinton Young for Matthew Bate
I viewed this in a similar vein to the previous trade, Young filled a need. He has some ability and I thought he could well be a good option as an outside mid or a HBF'er
No.3
- Travis Varcoe for Tom Scully
As it was decided that Scully would be on Melbourne's list for this trade week, I was very keen to let him go. The fact that I got Varcoe, a need which I thought was one of our most pressing, made me all the more content with his hypothetical trade.
No.4
- Tyrone Vickery for Justin Koschitzke + pick 5
Melbourne were given pick 5 in the draft due to the declared absence of GWS. I took full advantage of this when it was stated that Vickery would be considered for trade.
He fits our list demographic and is a perfect option out of the goal square.
No.5
- Josh Toy and pick 9 for Aaron Davey, Cale Morton and pick 22
This was a difficult trade to get done, and I think that while Morton and Davey have talent the benefits we get from this trade are great.
Toy is a fantastic young talent and we got a thirteen pick upgrade.
No.6
- Pick 26 for Clinton Young
I decided that since I traded in Toy that Young would be surplus on our list and was happy to receive a 2nd rounder to continue to strengthen our list through the draft.
No.7
- Keiran Jack for Liam Jurrah
Quite an interesting trade, I know.
I felt that adding by a young midfielder of Jack's quality, his hard-edged attitude a bonus, I was really setting us up for the future.
I felt that with the addition of Varcoe and Vickery our forwardline could make a really formidable group without the presence of Jurrah. With Watts, Howe and Petterd joining that group we certainly weren't short on talent or x-factor.
Draft Picks:
# 9, 26, 39, 56, 73
Our best 22 (IMO):
B: Strauss Frawley Garland
HB: Blease Rivers Grimes
C: Sylvia Trengove Gysberts
HF: Howe Watts Petterd
F: Varcoe Vickery Green
R: Jamar Moloney Jack
Int: McKenzie Jones Martin
S: Toy
Emg: Tapscott Gawn McDonald Bennell
