This is going to be a comedy show…. 3 conservative party’s all trying to get the same votes … each Party not knowing who to piss off more with preferences … lol.
Meanwhile Helen Dalton the NSW state independent is threatening to put her hat in the ring also….
The demographics of this electorate has change… Fingers crossed an independent wins…

The Independent Candidate for Farrer Michelle Milthorpe gave a very impressive interview on ABC Radi National this morning - presenting a clear distinction between what eh would offer compared towhat is being dished up by the Liberal, National and Paulien Hanson parties.

Her position on immigration showed nuance and deep understanding of the issues affecting her electorate pointing out that the electorate of Farrer has a 'large number of communities that depend on immigration to provide health care services, to have farmers, to have doctors,..We need to have those migrants in our community'

A pleasant change from the divisive dog whistling culture nonsense being dished up by Hanson, Taylor and Hume. I would be surprised if she didn't do very well again this by election and with Labor unlikely to field a candidate, and locals rightly pissed off at how their current representative was treated by the boys club of conservative politics I reckon she will come very close to winning.

And as she points out - at the 2025 Federal election there was a swing against the sitting member (Ley) in every one of the 96 electoral booths except for two. The electorate is definitely in the mood for change.

Guessing the ALP won't run here, which will probably help make sure Milthorpe ends up in the final 2PP count against Libs, PHON, or Nats.

I reckon enough preferences leak out to whichever 2 of the "right-side" parties don't make the 2PP preferred count to get Milthorpe over the line.



If Milthorpe doesn't make the 2PP... it could get a bit messier. I reckon the big loser here will be the Nats who will realise that most of the surge in PHON vote is coming at their expense... a 2PP between Libs and PHON would probably go to the Libs on Milthorpe supporters preferencing PHON last, unless PHON are polling 35-40% in their own right which would be seismic.

I am expecting a sizeable protest vote too. A by-election has different dynamics to a normal election. This one won't be a test of the current government, but more the actions of Taylor and Littleproud causing the by-election. Some normal LNP voters will not want to reward either atm.

That has been the history of Australia since colonisation. Each new wave generation of new immigrants wanting to keep the country just like it is without change.

First England only. Then only Great Britain. Then only western europe. Then whites only. Then....

My point being the talk about 'Australian values' and 'proper Australians' is based on a fairy tale.

No ALP candidate. Been seeing quite a few vote independent signs, this is different to previous elections. A lot of narrow-minded people in this electorate and they will vote ON. Will be interesting.
