Like a 40 a day smoker whose given up, or a dissolute who finds god, you were obese, now you're not, and you can't wait to tell people how great it is.
I'll have you know I've lost over 49kgs in the last 10 years.

I did it by losing a kg or two at a time then putting 2-3 back on to make the next 1-2 easier

It's a system and it works

This still an issue? Unless you are ******* one and turned off what do you honestly care?

Well in a country with an approximation of a universal health care system, widespread behavior that impacts the health of the population is a burden to all of us.

If you're going to outwardly look down on fat people it would probably hold you back somewhat. If you're just looking down on them in you're head who cares I guess.

Precisely. You can think what you want, hell within reason you can SAY what you want. And as long as you aren't out topping fatties that is your prerogative.

We're not at the stage of thought police yet.

We are flirting with the idea though sadly.

I never judge people on their weight, to me it's as irrelevant as hair colour or whether they are left or right handed.

I do laugh though when I see some obese fatso running to catch a bus and making a scene with their bingo wings flapping everywhere.

Other than bad hygiene in public, I have no issue with them.

i think people are drawn more to the fat acceptance spokespeople's statements than their weight. i think for the most part people are happy to let obese people get on with their lives, but hearing them say everything is peachy draws comment, not their weight.

the average weight of a passenger in aeroplanes, with regards to determining takeoff load is no doubt creeping up, with good reason. you fail to adjust for take off with a plane full of morbidly obese people you're going to have some issues. it shows a perfectly practical reason why an airline might ask an obese person to buy two tickets rather than their weight - safety.

Anyone else find themselves subconsciously getting really irritated at morbidly obese folks?

I would never say anything out loud but when I see obese women running to catch a bus or shuffle down the street with a fatigued look on their face, I just get inexplicably annoyed.

Fat, rotund, chubby, plump, etc are excluded - it's the morbidly obese that take the cake in this department.

I would love to read other people's fat shaming confessions and anecdotes

At the gym they have my respect.

However, with most overweight people the issue is in what they are forcing down their mouths on a continual basis. Exercise helps, but exercise alone or excessive exercise is not the solution.

I get really disgusted when I see morbidly overweight people eat. Actually got put off my meal once when I had one serve me.

Do you also get irritated at anorexic people?

This.

The push to normalise obesity is not cool.

Oh WTF. I'm more worried about the pilot suddenly converting and deliberately crashing than the inconvenience of sitting 12 hours next to some random fatty. Cheap airfares. You get what you pay for.

I don't think anyone's scared of it. The problem is a burden on the health system and on healthy people. It costs so much money to treat people, when preventative measures are so much cheaper. I'm fed up with people who trash their bodies be treated equally with those who take good care of themselves. For example, I hope to donate my organs when I die, but I don't want my liver going to a drinker, or my lungs going to a smoker (if they can transplant lungs?). I have no problem with what people do with their bodies or livelihoods, but healthy people shouldn't suffer because of it. People who have no regard for their body just want an easy way out. Join the back of the line I reckon.

Your liver will not go to an active drinker (due to rules about who gets scarce organs). Can be to a alcoholic who has not drunk for 12 months though.
