my moment of absolute insane celebration and satisfaction in the win was when we beat Freo over there when Hirdy had supposedly been sacked.

In years to come, our victory over Melbourne this year will look like an unremarkable game in the scorebooks I'm sure. But I reckon I enjoyed that win almost as much as any of our wins over the years.

After everything that had happened, it was such a nice surprise and just a really good tonic.

Favourite Essendon memory

There have been many standouts

My first real memory would be Graham Moss's Brownlow, then there is the premierships, and the ensuing Brownlow medals.

But for me it's the comeback of Rama after the cancer, truly awe inspiring.

For me it's not just about the Club it's the people I've met and shared the last 4 seasons with. You are my favourite memory of an otherwise dark time.

Thank you

Especially me.

To me the best memories were when you see a young player do a couple of things in a game and it dawns on you that this guy is going to be a serious player.

I remember watching Wanganeen in his first preseason game (against Carlton)Didn't do a lot but a couple of real pieces of magic.

Didn't take long to figure out that blokes like Mercuri, Misiti, and Lloyd were going to be real good just through glimpses early on even before they started firing on all cylinders.

A couple come to mind.

TD's 300th game over Carlton is one highlight.
On holiday in WA in 1987 and seeing Salmon kick 11 against the Eagles was pretty awesome.
Seeing us pump the Eagles at Windy Hill in the late 80's (we always sat on the outer wing where us kids wouldn't hear the vulgarity from the members LOL)
The draw against Richmond on a Friday night in the mid 90's.

Pretty certain Wanganeen kicked 5 if not 4 goals in his first pre season game that led to a very exciting win..
He was such a freak....

The comeback win against Fremantle over there at the height of the drugz scandal brought a tear to my eye.

Yeah I don't remember him kicking any goals that night. Don't think he saw much of it all, but it was a long time ago. All I remember was seeing him pull off this genius maneuver in the forward pocket and almost kicking a goal and being fairly certain that we have a gun small forward on our hands!

Just searched and found it in his book.
He kicked 2 goals four behinds in that first ever match against Carlscum, including the one to put us in front...Happy daze..

1981 season was amazing. Winning 16 games in a row after being down 1-5 after six rounds. Also the start of the Sheedy era. Especially memorable was the game against Carlton in round 20 when Neale Daniher kicked those goals!!!!

In a Tim Watson interview he semi-seriously said the players pulled their fingers out when Sheedy threatened to pull the boots back on as he could do a better job. Nek minut, the wins start piling up.

I honestly don't remember him being that busy. I sold him short. Cheers for that.
Yeah he was amazing from that first game, lazy 18 touches from a pocket and six shots on goal...total freak..We were so lucky to see the best of him...If he stayed we would have won at least 2 more flags I reckon..Oh well at least we got Daniel Mcallister as compo.. 20161107_143618_resized_1.jpg

Awesome day...got kicked of the tram for singing the song after that game..All of us...
Back when conductors barracked for Carlton..That was the first time we felt like we could actually beat the best, was a symbolic day..Don't think they beat us for ages after that...
