Hey Total Power, You've got a lot of quotes on this thread but not many references. How do we know if they are all true if we can't check for ourselves? There is also the language barrier that maybe needs to be addressed as well. I'm not sure you would be particularly fluent if you had to do a press conference in Swiss.
(incidentally a team of soft outside runners - won a premiership because of Hardwick in the guts - another story...)

never used internet before? google and you can find out :)

google is a wonderful tool, try it sometime :)

Funny how nadal who barely can speak english speaks everything properly, yet federer who GREW UP speaking english (yes in south africa they speak english, his mom is south african and as a kid he spent few years in south africa as well) cant express himself properly.Clutching the straws mr diver?

I would like to see why you think he is not the best ever. You should start that thread and throw it out there - see if the punters agree with you...

Well Sampras was clearly more limited in the range of his game but he has a 14 to 13 lead in majors and has more weeks at No. 1. Laver, probably the best ever on the evidence we have was prevented adding to his haul by the amateur v pro thing.

When he is finished i think it will be faor to compare Fed to Laver adn place him ahead of all else with the likes of Connors, mcenroe, Borg etc filling out the Premnier league. Rafa may yet step up as well if he doew 4 years at number one or breaks 10 majors both of which are unlikely but possible.

Here is a challenge, find me a fed comment where he said he got outclassed. Come on...do it.

Still waiting for the federer fans to find evidence of federer admitting his opponent outclassed him.

Hi, Federer haters. Here's a quote from last night:

Q. Back in another Grand Slam final. It's a great start to the year for you, and so different, I suppose, than the feeling here last year.

ROGER FEDERER: Like I said on the court, I think I played well throughout the tournament last year as well, you know. Just kind of came up short against Novak.I thought he played a fantastic match against me. He was the aggressive one. He was serving his spots so well that night that he kind of made that difficult. Even if I would have been in perfect shape, you know, I think he deserved to win last year.

Here's some more arrogant comments from this "disgrace of a human being".

Yeah, I mean, 14 (grand slams) is more ‑‑ the new generation, the Open era, I could maybe become the greatest of all‑time of that era, but never of all‑time.
ROGER FEDERER: Depending what you look for. I'd like to play Fernando because he's never played a Grand Slam final before. I have an edge there. Playing Rafa is obviously, you know, more exciting because of the history we have playing in so many Grand Slam finals.

Him being the best player in the world, it would make it a very intriguing match.

^Yes, if you look at the AO thread in this board, last night I gave him credit for that interview.

Alas, it's easier to be humble when you've won a match over a strong competitor that puts you into a grand slam final.

Call me a hater if you like, but I believe the points I make with regard to anything in this sport have a foundation to them (I don't blindly state opinions), regardless of whether you agree with me or not.

I think we have to remember the mental aspect of tennis. Its a very important part of the game, and quotes from both sides back it up.

Here is one

"It could get into my mind. I could start thinking, 'I can't play against this guy, his game doesn't suit me'. I could start accepting the fact that I have been losing against him, but that would be a bad thing for me to do."

Roger Federer on Rafael Nadal.

Yes he is arrogant, but mentioned somewhere before, its a key part of the mental game. I think after winning 13 grand slam, you can have a bit of an ego in my opinion.

One thing Federer doesn't normal do, is the exaggerated fist pump, unlike Nadal who has incorporated the leg as well. ;)

In his last 2 matches Federer has played sublime temnnis. He is not an angel. Not a perfect man. He is just the most aesthetically wonderful tennis player we have seen....isn't that enough for you all?

Great sportsmen are competitors not beauty queens who want to save the panda.

^Yeah the point still stands. He has a very good grasp of the English language, and from a young age.

I guess the reason I have anti-federer elements is because people build him up to be some form of perfect angel, when really he isn't.

One other big readon is that people claim him to be the best ever. Something I do not agree with at all. But that's for another thread's argument.

He is one of the best ever, regardless of wether you agree with it.

Rafa Nadal is a cocky, fist pumping tool aswell, is someone going to insult my knowledge of tennis because i have an opinion?

TP seriously you are becoming the biggest nob on bigfooty.

Quite right. It would be easy to rubbish the constant fist pumping, the constant time wasting, the vamosing the playing to the gallery and suggest rafa was a look at me gamesmanship player.

Easy and pointless because that is him doing what he does just as Federer does as he does which is peak his mind and tel his truth

He already is.

His anti-Federer rants are pathetic.

Sampras > Federer.

What a w***er, seriously. He think he's bigger than the game. I'm glad Rod Laver was there too just to rub salt into the wound.

What's even more pathetic is how one loser can live so vicariously through one sportsman's achievements and take pride in the misfortune of somebody else.

LOL so dont watch sports..why do you love it when richmond lose, or port lose? do you enjoy watching the misfortune of 22 players and the coach out there or the supporters out there?

Dont be drama queen, this is a sport, i enjoy watching rafa win and fed lose, just like you enjoy watching your footy time win and the team you despise lose  Get a clue

Fed is a w***er seriously, look how nice is rafa even after he won. After winning 13 slams he is still crying, harden the **** up..you are no Schumi or Tiger Woods, rafa now owns you :D

Am I the only the one who feels sorry for Federer after losing a five-setter? Just seeing him cry like that makes me feel that he deserves some sympathy.

Serious, no respect at all for a champion. If he had one that Grand Slam, he'd have become equal with Sampras. Though, something Federer is obsessed with apparently are statistics and being number one (interesting). I'm sure after this long journey to go down in 5 epic sets, he has the right to be emotional. (I'm not taking away nothing from Rafa, he played incredible.)

You kind of would. Such a long journey and to go down in a close one, he is truely a champion of the game in my opinion.

Cant understand how tools like you can have a go at Federer when he is probably up there in the worlds top 2 or 3 best ever tennis players in history. So what if he cried and got emotional after the game the man still deserves the respect for what he has achieved and with regards to Shumi and Tiger Woods i would put Federer right up with those 2 for what he has achieved in his chosen sport. You really need to get a clue

lol. A football team at least represents something somewhat meaningful to a supporter of that team, i.e, location, history...you are just a love sick, obsessed Nadal fan who wishes he woke up with Nadal's biceps wrapped around him every morning.:rolleyes:

how about individual players  are you new to bigfooty? there are millions of threads bagging invididual players, dont be a ********, if you dont like what you read put me under ignore..i dont like Fed and i enjoy watching him lose, if you have a problem with that, i couldnt give a rats ass about that.

Secondly its not obsession, its called payback, after being on the receiving side of it for years, getting shit from people for calling rafa an all court player, its time i dish it out, people like you who cant take it..so why dont you go and cry with your little whingey boy.

Ooh, a little defensive? It's all coming out. Ha ha, you can't deny your obvious boy love for Rafa. It's there for everyone to see. It's complete obsession. And you are on the receiving end of it all the time because you won't STFU about the guy. It's one thing to give shit to a player, but you would be one of only a few who obsess over one player. It's concerning.
