Yes, but it can also be a proven fact. Devine is a proven campaigner. This is not in dispute.
Well if you feel it is fact, maybe email, post on her facebook or call her and notify her that you can factually prove she is a campaigner.
Chief is surely the biggest troll on this site.

1. It's literally defined as derogatory. Do you dispute that calling a black person a n***** is offensive? I mean really that's just a word for a black person. How is it offensive?
2. If you refuse to take into account definition, then it's all intent.

So if it's not offensive, then we can freely call people sluts?
The n-word harps back to a time of slavery and discrimination. There's historical context there.

I gave you the definition of the word. "Derogatory" is a meaning, not a definition. Explain how "has sex with lots of people" is an insult. Go.

You have to be the worst debater i've come across on this site. You seem to come up with non-relevant analogies in every argument

You defined the two words. You defined one as an insult, and one as a word that men use to insult women. If you were not specifically meaning that, why point it out? Or is it just another one of your rants that lead nowhere?
You're taking statements out of context and attempting to define a word as "derogatory", which shows me maybe you don't know what "definition" means.

I've explained it numerous times, you just don't agree. You're doing a terrible job at attempting to trap me here.

an exact statement or description of the nature, scope, or meaning of something. I'd say you need to understand what a definition entails.

You realise the etymology of **** was derogatory and offensive, yeah? It's literally the same. They were both used offensively historically (although ****'s meaning has changed, it's always been offensive)

So because the dictionary says its "derogatory", that's it?
Obviously there are circumstances which may change it, such as context, tone etc. But yes, that is how language works, you base the meaning of a word on it's definition.

Yes it was. But ****, unlike the n-word, has a clear definition beyond just "an insult".

The n-word is a generic term for all black people.

**** specifically means "person who has sex with lots of people". It was never a generic term for all men or all women.

Using the n-word is just using that generic term for black people.

Using **** means you're attempting to insult someone because you think they have sex with lots of people. In 2015, that's ridiculously stupid and archaic.

But how does that change the original point? campaigner is okay because it's referencing the type of person they are, but **** isn't because it's referencing their sexual behaviour?

As a side note: I can't say i really use the word **** seriously.

It's the same thing isn't it? Can you sepparate the two?

Subscribing to an ism is subscribing to a tribe. If you didn't want to be considered amonst other feminists you wouldnt simplify yourself down to identify as such, because life isnt simple, you'd look at each situation as a reasonable and logical person.

That's why I have always stated you can judge a group by its worst examples because you choose to clasify yourself that way and join that tribe.
you cant allow the worst to define a bloc. that denies inherent complexity.

no, its not the same thing. there were tribes that existed before they even knew to title it tribe. Humans will always co-exist in discreet groupings, this is simple sociology101 a priori. this guy is the exception to the rule... http://www.smh.com.au/good-weekend/michael-fomenko-australias-tarzan-20151009-gk5pxt.html

I'll give you the hot tip.

One's an insult. One's a word men use in an attempt to insult women.
One's relevant when discussing someone's attitudes an opinions. One's not.

So only men use the word ****? Women never refer to other women as sluts?

Ok

And I'm not sure how implying that someone is the physical embodiment of the female genitalia is relevant to their attitudes and opinions. If anything referring to vaginas in such a derogatory fashion is pretty damn sexist ;)

Ridiculous. I know far, far, far more (by a factor of 10+) women who insult other women with terms like "****" and "kent". The difference is women do it in person, not on social media. So if men are relegated to online based anonymity for their insults now, I'd say that's a big improvement over 10, 20 years ago.. Both genders have assholes in it who insult their own gender and the opposite - is the moral of the story.

Only one group of people are trying to have exclusively male lives ruined over words spoken (feminists/SJW's)

If you could point out where I said "only men", that'd be gr8.

You should reconsider you friends, sounds like you hang with a pretty rough crowd.

You defined it as a word that men use when there was no reason to make it gender specific. You should've left the gender thing out, because it implied that women don't use the term.
Don't bother. He won't respond to why he specified gender, but apparently wasn't just referring to one gender using it

I can't take the opinion seriously of someone who thinks campaigner is okay to call a woman, but **** is not.

Think the 'insults' are different. One means you are a goose, and can be applied to either gender and in a variety of contexts. Whilst the sexual connotations of the other imply a lack of morality, a failing of character, that is only applied to women.

Both have similar origins, and I hear blokes called sluts all the time.
But yeah. Go and call a woman a campaigner. See how well that goes down. I'm sure she will agree you're just calling her a goose

Haha -you hear 'blokes called sluts al the time'. Am surprised to hear that and certainly find it hard to believe its applied with similar intent.
Yep, quite likely a woman will object to being called a campaigner, just as a male might. Campaigner is a bit more diverse in its application and can even be gentler in its application-if you can't see the diff, not my problem.

So can ****. My girlfriend calls me a **** as a joke. I call my best mate a **** because he is a ****.
Not my problem that you have some stupid notion of the world and what is deemed offensive.

Maybe I expect too much of people.

Yep and that is a personal situation between you and your girlfriend and quite irrelevant.
The intent of the man who used that word re Ford was clear-its literal definition and the implications of that. He intended to insult. Your girlfriend didn't ( well presumably!)
