Manager Mode definitely needs a complete overhaul.

Hopefully they include an indoor mode as well as that would be mental. I can't believe this hasn't appeared in a game for 10 years despite how popular it is.

Good point. They need various types of Manager mode and Be a pro needs a bit of a shake up like real live dressing room stuff and if they include the press into a manager mode it would be brilliant aswell as more transfers ect.

I like this part

Off the pitch, Rutter and his team have also been busy, with over fifty improvements being made to Manager mode. "We've worked really hard on this, especially in the realism, transfers and player development departments," he says. "We're trying to make management more believable by having other things going on around you in the world of football. We also want to make a big deal of the transfer system. A club, player and manager's prestige will all be taken into consideration during the transfer process, as well as the player and manager's experience, and whether the squad already has lots of great personnel in that player's position."

"We also want to make sure that we have proper player development in Manager mode. Not every new player will end up being the next Zidane. The player's environment will affect their growth, so if they play at a great club they'll grow better than at a bad club and also if they play better. A player's ego will also grow and they may become more demanding. The AI-controlled teams will also work far harder towards improving their squads than before."

These games always look gorgeous. This one will be my first next gen football title. I refused to buy 09 because I wanted to wait for 10 so I could play a team 10 A-League. Did they fix the pitiful create a team mode? The 08 version was disgraceful.

FIFA 98: Road to the World Cup :thumbsu:

One of the best soccer games ever. There were like hundreds (exaggerating a bit) of international teams and the indoor mode was awesomely fun.

Totally bewildered we haven't seen anything since.

I havent played fifa for a couple of years, and i was wondering in the be a pro mode, can u play for your country in the world cup?

Key Features

• 360° Dribbling—The first-ever true 360° dribbling system in a football game provides finer dribbling control, enabling players to find spaces between defenders that previously were not possible.

• Skilled Dribbling—All-new animation warping technology provides unprecedented control. Skilled players now have the ability to face a defender and use highly-responsive lateral dribbling to skip past him.

• Freedom in Physical Play—Wider dribble touches and new collision sharing creates a varied, less predictable, and extended fight for possession between the dribbler and a defender.

• Player Urgency—Improved urgency AI logic, with over 50 new movement cycles, delivers more responsive positioning so your players stay focused on the ball and move at a speed appropriate to the action.

• Improved Trapping Intelligence —Players now have a better awareness of where the easiest, most natural trapping position is so they can get the ball on the ground and under control easier and earlier.

• Advanced Positioning —Defenders multi-task and play the pitch more intelligently by covering dangerous spaces left by out-of-position teammates. In attack, players analyze space more effectively, curve their runs to stay onside, create passing lanes and vary attacking options.

• More Accurate Passing —Players better analyze space resulting in pinpoint passes that give their receivers more options and time to outrun defensive pressure.

• Authentic Shooting —Refinements to the shooting system and modifications of the ball physics create a wider, more realistic variety of shots that enhance the exhilaration of scoring.

• Varied Defending Options —Slide Tackle targeting has been enhanced so skilled players have more reach and avoid tackling through the dribbler. Better effort clearance logic gives defenders more options when attempting to get a foot on the ball before an attacker. Effort, such as sliding to block crosses and overhead kick clearances, give defenders more tools to prevent goal-scoring opportunities.

• Refined Goalkeeper Intelligence — numerous improvements mean that goalkeepers now have more urgency and better perception of where to intercept loose balls, resulting in a more responsive and powerful rushing system. New animation warping technology provides game-realistic goalkeeper positioning and momentum, resulting in more varied scoring opportunities.

• Manager Mode Authenticity—More than 50 major improvements were designed to create an authentic experience to mimic the real-world game. Match results are based on team and player strengths and weaknesses. Player transfers are determined by multiple decision points, including club finance and prestige, availability of similar players, and competition from AI-controlled clubs. Player development is more realistic with true-to-life growth curves based on factors such as age and environment.

• Continuous Gameplay— Maintain the atmosphere, pace, and intensity of a match with quick free kicks and referee carding.

• New Practice Arena—Work on individual skills in a fully featured practice mode before stepping on the pitch.

Yeah you can, you play about 6-7 friendlies every year. And then there's a World Cup after the 4th season.

It's quite good and I imagine the FIFA 10 one will be much better.

The improved defence AI is the best news for me as I tend to be one of those move to whoever has the ball type of defenders and it does leave my defence full of holes resulting in goals against the better opponents. Will be fantastic to actually have intuitive defenders who realise they need to fill that hole.

Here are a couple of hands-on(No footage unfortunately) which both detail the 360 degree running as one of the best new features as well.

2nd of October

I just checked the FIFA website (came across it) and it has the 19th, do Europe get it a week or so earlier than us?

Will i get viruses from this link? lol :P

One thing worth mentioning about the visuals is that sadly, the PS3 version running right next to the 360 version looked better.
bahahahahahahahahahahaha

I think the biggest change in terms of gameplay will be the GK. He is SHITHOUSE in 09, not attacking enough, not fast enough and when rushing back into position he does this stupid crabwalk thing like he's trying to push out a ****. So annoying! Not to mention when a ball is cleared and he takes a gd 10 seconds to grab it, sometimes falling over! Meanwhile the opposing team have managed to regather their defensive lines and re control the midfield... very lame. You only have to watch real soccer to realise that GKs are very aggressive and powerful off the the line. I've never understood why EA havent managed to perfect this yet.

Dont get me started on 09 Manager mode...

Do you agree that its too easy when you put a ball through to a running striker or midfielder from midfield where the keeper could run out and beat him to it by 20 yards?

Absoloutely. When you penetrate the final defensive line with a through ball, even if the ball is 15meters in front of the attacker, you can still easily run onto it and score. Realistically, the GK would pounce on that ball in a matter of seconds, and if not he would meet him at the edge of the 20yard box to force a shot at goal.

These A+ GKs (Cassilas, Cesar, Gomes:D, Reina etc) would have amazing 20m sprint times under 3 seconds for sure.

It's just not realistic and its the biggest mistake that EA are making with FIFA, im hoping now it will be fixed.

Surely you are joking. Cech is lucky to make B grade these days.
Goalkeeping in these games has always been an issue, but it doesn't bother me too much.
Looking forward to FIFA10 because I only buy these games every two years. Glad they have made an effort with manager mode as well.

I think you mean under 3 seconds. If they did it under 2 secs theyd be teaching Usain Bolt a lesson.

Probably the worst parts are the GK AI glitches. Massive glitches that can occur in Free Kicks and worst of all Corners where if you send it high enough and close enough to goal it is a simple header into the back of the net.

Gotta hate that glitch especially ;). I ****ing hate the heading though in the game, they seem to kind of leaping into the ball, when in reality they can just stand there use minimal power and head in an easy goal (kind of hard to explain, but you get the gist.)

Yeah, especially bad when n00bz use it.

Strangely enough though I have found that the opposition tend to use it when on Professional difficulty, it's like it was deliberately written in just so they could get cheap goals.

Yeah headers could change up and become a little more dangerous. Don't want it to be overly dangerous at the same time though.
