Not liking the PES demo. Shooting is strange, maybe its because i don't know the controls. And the AI have kicked in for me and caused 2 penalties to happen (which I still think weren't penalties) which is kinda annoying.


Just scored a scissor kick from like 35 yards....WITH BUSQUETS ZOMG GAME IS BAD

another 30 yarder with Villa....getting used to it, i'd just dl it on PC though. Wouldn't wanna buy the two games on the same console...it'd just like confuse me with the controls. Yeah I am pretty dopey.
 
Playing the PES 2011 demo. First thing you notice is the single most stupid typical trait that all Japanese devs seem to constantly use, it's seriously like they are literally contractually obliged to use the same font in EVERY SINGLE ****ING JAPANESE GAME!!!:mad: Break free of it ffs, PLEASE! FOR ONCE! It's such an amatuer looking font as well, makes everything look so low budget instantly.

Disappointing that there is so little options available overall, nothing for controls, about 2 options in the game settings. That is all until you actually enter the game, how about pre-game options?!

There's no real individuality to the game, everyone seems to just be the same. And not trying to be too racist here, but all the players run like Japanese players, the real short step arms flying running style, it looks so shit. In fact much of every player looks and plays like a Japanese player, it's just really obvious who was doing the mo-cap work for the stuff here.

Outside of that there's nothing really intuitive in there, the menu's are confusing. The gameplay seems to be very stop, start. The AI is nothing great (felt they sat back on their lines a bit much and didn't really attack on defence, really was reactionary defending). Very easy to score long bomb goals, which just seems unrealistic too.

I dunno, there's just nothing special about the game that to me says I should get it over the established, polished, greatness of FIFA 11.
 
The demo is brilliant. Can't wait for this. Considering Fifa used to be absolutely rubbish just a few years ago its amazing to see how much the game has changed.

Bumped it up to Legendary tonight. 3 matches, won 2 (1-0, 1-0) and drew 1 (1-1, lost in penalties, they get WAY better in penalties on the higher difficulty). All goals were from field play too, no easy headers.

Dunno what happened, but I got better on the harder difficulty, had generally been playing 0-0 draws on World Class, but stepped it up to Legendary and the game actually opened up a bit more.

Strange.
 
IMO this game requires you have a very good central midfield. There is a lot of passing to set up goal scoring opportunities, DM's are actually good at breaking up play in the game as well.

The demo kept freezing on me. I usually got through a couple of minutes unscathed but then had a freeze every 6 or 7 seconds after that. Waited a couple of seconds and it would go back to normal. Then 6 seconds later, another freeze!

Anyone else's freezing?
 
I haven't had any issues with the demo freezing.

Managed to play a few games last night and it is excellent, spewing it is only a demo. I only played on Pro just so I could have a few shots on goal but will bump it up to World Class next time I play. Does feel slightly different to World Cup and will take some getting used to but I can't wait.

Just on the PES demo, I haven't got around to playing that yet, but if past years are anything to go by the demo and finished product are completely different. Demos in the past were horrible so I wouldn't write it off just yet.
 
Just played 4 games on Legendary as was starting to find World Class abit to easy.

Playing as Chelsea against Barcelona. 1-0, 0-1, 1-0, 2-1. I find that if you can get on top early its really easy to keep the ball and dominate possession. In the game I lost I barely touched the ball. Really had to fight back into the game.

Game is controlled in the midfield. Especially the DM.

Absolutely awesome.

Because they are from the UK. Makes you realise how ripped of we are getting from the local retailers when you can get the game cheaper from the other side of the world.

Haven't had mine freeze. Had it hitch up a couple of times in game for a second or so, but still working fine other wise. Also had it freezing after a play in the arena when I was the GK the first time I tried it (which I could still actually get into the menu and back out, but it would keep doing the same thing), but since then it has been fine.

Might be a shit, but you could have a corrupt or messed up demo file, so deletion and re-download and install could be your only fix.

Definitely think it was at least partly corrupt. I tried playing it some more but got the same result. Then went back to XMB but had massive slowdown when trying to open something (eg: game, option etc). Deleted it and my Playstation went back to normal. I think I'll just take a pass on the demo.
 
Bumped the speed up to Fast tonight. It definitely ramps it up a bit and makes the play faster, comparatively there's been about 2-3 shots per match overall while on the faster speed it's up to about 5-7.

Definitely makes you pay for your mistakes more too, if you turn it over you're more likely to be hit harder on the return and I noticed that the players were covering me a lot quicker, forcing my passing to get down to 71% which is the worst I've had it in a LONG time (generally at 80% at least).

Have won both matches so far though (1-0, 1-0) on Legendary. Dunno if I'm liking it more or less on the faster speed yet either.

While the animations are fluid, it felt like I was ice skating rather than running. The game (at least on whatever the default setting is) was far too quick. Furthermore, the opposition AI was utterly brainless. Almost every time, they try to run the ball out of defence, where you can just pick it off and start attacking.

Four minute games suck arse too. Most people are going to buy the game, so why is EA being tight-arsed? Let us play a 10 minute game or something. That really annoyed me.

What did you select when you start up the game? Because that will set the difficulty and if you left it on beginner then you'll obviously have brainless AI opposition. Flick it up to either World Class or Legendary (in the options menu under Team Management at the match set-up screen) and you'll find you're gonna have some trouble.

I don't know quite how you think this is fast, have you played FIFA 10? This is a huge slowdown from that game. If you want it slower you can always change the game speed to slow.

Also if you think this demo is short, you should see the NBA 2K11 demo. At least you get a full game in FIFA 11, the 2K11 demo is 1 single quarter, and only 4 minutes at that!:thumbsd:
 
NHL 11's demo was worse. You could only play the last quarter of the Stanley Cup final (4 minutes) and the score was always 3-1. You then had to watch the whole celebration cut scene before playing again. Luckily I picked up the full version today though.
 
I downloaded the demo and it looks like a big improvement. :thumbsu:
I'm loving the speed of fifa 11, because now you have to play real soccer and pass the ball around more to set up for a goal.
There are so many players online for fifa 10 that just play full on attack and seem to get lucky goals from it.
Another great thing in this game is how your back 4 are always aware of a through ball and they just move forward automatically at the right time to cause an offside for the other team.
In fifa 10 it was way too easy to get passed the back 4 from a through ball.
 
I know it's set to come out next tuesday (I reckon it will be out on the Monday at least though) but if anyone gets it early, let people of the thread know (as I am sure you will) :)

What are people going to try first?
I'm tempted to give online match a whirl to see the connection quality, doubt it's been improved though
