Loved the interview with the producer who claimed that a 'silent majority' loved the Fifa '10 manager mode, but they were forced to revamp it due to the aggressive protest from the 'minority'

He is right I guess, I actually loved having my players sold without my knowing, enjoyed playing multiple games on the same day, having negative income after beginning the previous season with over 30 million and being unable to re-sign any player, playing nearly every game in the rain and having it snow in winter.

They were just some of the features I LOVED in Fifa '10, I just never said anything because I was completely entrenched in it's scarily realistic logic.
 
haha my liverpool team in fifa 10 went from having a positive bank balance to -$6,000,000,000 overnight.

Got the demo last night, played 6 games..... each ended in 0-0, the 4 minute games doesn't give you much room for error I suppose. Good fun though
 
It seems somehow EA have ****ed up the half lengths in the demo. They are suppose to be 3 minutes long, but I, like most others, felt they were extremely short. That's because they are!!

To get proper 3 minute halves, choose your 'FIFA experience' at the beginning as 'beginner (i've never played fifa before)'. Then change to whatever difficulty you want, and fix the controls, because the default on world class is all manual when you change, and the halves magically become the right length.

The game is a lot better when you fell like you have time to control the ball, and one attack doesnt take you to half time!
 
What settings you guys playing?

Auto switch assistance: Air ball
Through Pass: Manual
Crossing: Semi
Shooting: Assisted
Passing: Assisted
Lob Pass: Assisted
Analog Sprint: On
 
I haven't bothered changing my settings for the demo so not sure what the top and bottom ones exactly do as they are new.

But I do semi for most, and manual for those which give the option of manual/assisted.

Assisted passing, shooting etc is a bit weak and once you learn on semi at least, you can control where the ball goes far better.
 
Hmm might try changing shooting/passing to semi and Lob Pass to manual
 
Definitely give it a go, might take some getting used to but semi shooting really is not that bad. If you find your shots going in the same spot all the time (especially if they are missing) then it is a good idea to make the switch. I draw the line at manual shooting and passing though, that shit is too hardcore for me.

For a laugh, give that a go. :cool:

Played both PES 11 and FIFA 11 demos for a fair while.

Thought PES had the better graphics and animations at first but FIFA grows on you. While it may be true, PES is more aracade where FIFA seems more like trying to a real life simulator. It doesn't bother me one way or the other really, minor details.

As for the gameplay, FIFA seems to be a lot better. You can do a lot more, players are smarter and make better runs, etc. You have more options in what you can do. AI is better. For the main part, goals aren't as easy. In PES you can score from ages out, it's fun at first but get's boring after a while (I know, I played PES 10 for ages, didn't really bother with FIFA). I think I'll buy buying FIFA 11 though. Never really tried Manager Mode much, hope it tops Master League as that was pretty good in the last PES.

Game reviews are overrated. Don't they just play the game for a few hours and that's it. Flashy menus and good gameplay are all they really judge. It's going in depth within the different modes that makes or breaks FIFA games. FIFA 10 received good reviews everywhere last year but as soon as it was released the problems with MM became obvious and it turned out to be a massive flop imo.

I find the big game sites are pretty poor with sports games reviews. They have historically overrate some average sports games.

Yeah, I never had any real problems either, although I only played my MM save for 3 seasons or so.

There was one occasion in which one of my players never returned from loan, but apart from that, it was all fine.
 
Fifa and FM fusion ha (fused) together would be badass. Probably take ages to do seasons, but the depth and interaction FM provides with the gameplay of gameday in Fifa (i do like watching it and all but playing would be fun). Don't say Fifa Manager. That game is so damn average. Some nice features and all but yuck yuck.

Good point. Guess you can't criticize them in the media when you're controlling them. Maybe not play but watch the games in the fifa quality mode instead of the 3d pitch.

Anyway. Not too long now, under a week :)
 
This game is so much harder than PES (maybe it's because I'm used to PES though and not the FIFA controls). Still, it's a good thing. Top player on PES 10 and now it looks like PES 11 is way too easy and not a challenge.

Only annoying thing so far on FIFA 11 is too many intercepts. Very easy to step in and steal the ball off the AI in the midfield even if you don't try to and vice versa the AI can do it to me very easily. Results in not many great flows of play. Not playing on the top difficulty yet so that could be the issue.
