No, it's more like what Caesar said. The system works pretty well so no need for change. Quebec pretty much do their own thing anyway. If they did eventually separate, I can't imagine Canadian's suddenly pushing for a republic.
Seems kinda pointless then.

WTF, if that was the case, then women & aboriginals still wouldn't be able to vote.
That's a pretty egregious rights issue and not in any way able to be equated to the largely irrelevant and symbolic gesture of exchanging a governor-general for a president.

It was a disgrace that women and aboriginal people weren't allowed to vote.
Some at that time would have disagreed, just like the flag change. Things change & if it ain't broke, don't fix it is rubbish.
Peoples attitudes change over time, like making homosexuality legal, one day the flag will be changed.

The flag is a purely cosmetic thing and not comparable to the denial of democratic process to citizens solely due to gender or race.
Changing a flag won't change that. The royals still visit and top news stories in both Canada and the US. Seems silly not to be proud of your country because of a flag. It's a part of Australian history whether you like it or not. Just changing the flag seems a symbolic gesture that doesn't really achieve much. All regulating systems and other symbols or British heritage would most likely stay the same.

Ask Johnny Kerr and Gough , formality means shit , Kerr wiped out Gough , and he probably should have, in hindsight.
Gough a good man had some doodle brains working for him! I'm older now we were probably lucky that Kerr did sack his government , with all that loans crap going on with Kemlani.
