Just saw article below with ladder below:

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-06-20/the-final-countdown

PREDICTED TOP EIGHT
1. Sydney Swans
2. Fremantle
3. Port Adelaide
4. Hawthorn
5. Geelong
6. North Melbourne
7. Collingwood
8. Gold Coast

Not bad - I so wish for this ladder at end of round 23 - we would play port at Subiaco hopefully win that and get week off - hope for Swans and Hawks to belt the daylight of each other - and me hoping hawks win and swans come to knockout final !!!

God I hate them !!!

Would that mean Port fly over, fly home, then fly over again to play us again?
That would be perfect.

I'd like it if that last round decided who hosts the qualifying final.

Hi,

yup that is possible - if we get this ladder and win the first match then we are 1 home final away from a GF - doesnt mean that we will play port as they would then play any winners from 5v8 or 6v7 at AO then the winner of that will come play us. Would be hilarious if Port get knocked out in straight sets. I think if they win that then they go on the Sydney side of the Draw.

So it is crucial to win your first finals match to avoid sydney till the GF - that is saying Sydney dont loose their first final. too many combinations to think about.

We play Port in Rd 23 here though. Pretty sure that's what she was talking about.

Yeah.
Round 23, they fly over. (Either with their B side because their position can't change OR their A side because a home final is on the cards)
We win. They fly home.
They fly back.
We haven't gotten on a plane for a month before the grand final. Fingers crossed.

Go and play on the ladder predictor that is linked from that page and pick the teams that you think will win each game from here on out. I did and came up with a slightly different ladder, but there will no doubt be upsets and curve balls before the end of the year. Freo will still finish top 4 for sure.

I can't see Freo finishing any higher than 4th if they even make it there. I think they'll finish up in 5th.

PREDICTED TOP EIGHT
1. Sydney Swans - 76 Points
2. Port Adelaide - 76 Points
3. Geelong - 72 Points
4. Hawthorn - 68 Points
5. Fremantle - 64 Points
6. Gold Coast - 56 Points
7. Collingwood - 56 Points
8. North Melbourne - 56 Points

These ladder predictors give me a headache. So many combinations and permutations.

I like to wait until the end of the season and be surprised.

Everytime I do the predictor Freo win the premiership ;)

Yeah, about that, yeah Andrew Demetriou just called and said "in the interests of fairness and equity Freo will have to play that final against Port in the SA suburb of Holden Hill." Yeah uh he said, "fair's fair because you know... uhhhhm you guys are from West Australia and your opinions don't matter."

Too late he is out as of last week gilan mglochlan or however you spell it is new boss. So instead of screwing with us he will just favour Sydney . So finishing 2nd or 3rd is more important so we don't meet Sydney till 2nd end finals or gf.

The Port v Freo final will have to be played at Spotless stadium because the SCG is too valuable and neither team could fill it up, and this way the Swans coaches don't have to travel or suffer the inconvenience of watching the game on tv.

Us ending 16-6 isn't unreasonable, and would be pretty good.

But that ladder is assuming Swans end 19-3 (i.e. don't lose another game) - that's not going to happen.
Similarly, Port to only drop one more game? They have Collingwood, GC and us all away to end the season, as well as Sydney and Essendon at AO.
Similarly, Geelong and Hawks to only drop one more game each? Firstly they are playing again in R22. Also Geelong has GC and NM away, and Freo at Kardinia. Hawks have Collingwood twice, NM, Sydney (H), Freo (A). The winner of Geel/Haw will still likely lose a couple more from here; and the loser will definitely not remain undefeated.

My guess would be something like:
Sydney 18-4 (drop either Hawthorn or Port game)
Port Adelaide 17-5 (drop games amongst GC/Sydney/Freo/Collingwood).
Geelong 17-5 (can potentially see them lose this week, and will almost certainly drop some of games against NM/Freo/Hawks).
Freo and Hawthorn 16-6 (Hawks have toughest draw and can see them dropping more, but they are still class).

Geel v Freo shapes up as a huge one. If we win, almost guarantees Top 4 spot I'd say. And win at least one of the PA/Hawks games at Subi and we will be fine. Even if lose to Geelong and win the other two, could still end up 17-5, which would be easy top 4, potentially top 2.

tbh I'd be worried about versing Port here in a final

Mate rtb will get us primed for that match here or AO anywhere anytime and we did have them till last qtr. without a key back men I think and no Walters which makes a big diff.

Any where anytime!! In Ross we believe
