Hi,

yup that is possible - if we get this ladder and win the first match then we are 1 home final away from a GF - doesnt mean that we will play port as they would then play any winners from 5v8 or 6v7 at AO then the winner of that will come play us. Would be hilarious if Port get knocked out in straight sets. I think if they win that then they go on the Sydney side of the Draw.

So it is crucial to win your first finals match to avoid sydney till the GF - that is saying Sydney dont loose their first final. too many combinations to think about.

Personally I'm alot more afraid of playing Hawthorne than Sydney, Dockers struggle against good kicking teams, or WHEN any team kicks well, and Hawthorne are just that.

The wheels'll end up falling off Port a bit, I just can't see them as a great enough side to win it. They've also been incredibly lucky on the injury front. The Swans are a good side but we play other teams for ten more weeks, not them. And when we face them, it'll be once: and Freo's just as capable as them of playing hard, clinical, tough, smooth football.

For a realistic pessimist, I like our chances. I really do. The Hawks'll be in some good form but so'll Freo. And in the finals, has Freo ever really played cowardly or done stupid shit since Lyon came in? Aside from the Grand Final...

Hi, who would we rather face in gf swans or hawks

Swans at the G any day of the week. Thought Sydney were not impressive there on Friday night. Neutral ground, would be an armwrestle and we could jag the win with a few goals either way. Hawks full strength playing at the MCG (their home ground) look like the toughest assignment in 2014 AFL IMO.

true i see logic there thus would be nice if we knock out hawks from 2nd us if possible at subi and they go to other side of draw against swans.

Our last 5 games against Hawthorn were all losses. We've only gotten within 6 goals of them once in the last 5.

We are 2 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses in our last 5 against Sydney. All have been close games.

The MCG is Hawthorn's home ground.

This is a no brainer.

Yeah but in the one GF we've played in, against the Hawks, we lost by 15 and played average for a fair bit of it. I'd rather play them again and take the chocolates. The boys would be fired up about that too.
Actually, I'd rather just make the GF, don't really care who we play.
