Melbourne would have to beat WCE in Perth for us to play them.
Walshawk above is on the money.
We win & it’s tigger
We lose & it’s puss
I got it wrong. Actually if Dees lose today and win next week, and we lose we are likely to play them, as the Cats will overtake Dees on %

If you do the predictor with favourites winning

And we lose to Swans then we either get Cats as 5v8 or 6v7 depending on the Melbourne v GWS game

That's assuming that the Cats don't make up % on Melbourne. GC won't give anything and the Cats tend to absolutely belt shit teams. I think if Melbourne lose to West Coast and beat GWS, we likely play Melbourne first week if we lose to Sydney.

Beat Sydney well and its West Coast in Perth
Beat Sydney poorly and its Richmond at the G (Collingwood above us on percentage)
Lose to Sydney its Geelong at the G in an elimination final.

From what I can tell theres no other realistic potential outcomes?

What do you prefer??

Any of them means a very probable semi final

Second or third is usually the box seat, even more so for third if it’s a neutral venue

Not sure I'd want to play the Demons in an Elimination Final

If they do get in there they may play with freedom and confidence they don't have right now

Literally can not happen in the 1st week of finals anyway.

I want the Tigers, I want to see how good we really are. **** the easy path - if our last 4 weeks of footy include wins over Essendon, Geelong and Sydney then let’s up the ante and take on the Tigers.

Yes, I'd like the Tigers first up. Not because I think we would win, but to give us a gauge as to where we need to improve for 2019. A win would be a bonus.

We’ve got to beat them all to win the premiership anyways so it doesn’t matter to me who we play when. Turn out our best game and we’re a good chance to beat anyone. Turn out our worst and we’re lucky to beat the cellar dwellers.

How far the team goes is in their hands, not their opponents.

I would love to play Richmond at the G.

I think we would be much better ready than earlier in the year and I get the feeling our defense would stack up well.

It also means I can go to the match in a likely 80k plus crowd with a guaranteed MCG game after that whether it’s in 1 week or 2. Bring it on.

So looking at this. Correct me if im wrong.

If the Dees beat WC today, it means that if we lose to Sydney next week, the winner of gws v demons next week will overtake us and finish 5th, pushing us down to 6th, meaning we will likely play the loser of gws v dees next week at the G.

Only if we lose to Sydney. Better imo than geelong

We won't beat Sydney by more than Collingwood beat Freo.

Realistic scenarios (barring MAJOR upsets) are:

Beat Sydney, play Richmond in a QF

Lose to Sydney, home Elim final against Geelong or Melbourne, depending on GWS/Melb result.

Agreed. Freo are rolling over...

Legitimately cant get anyone below us apart from Geelong, go through all options using AFL predictor. GWS v Melb will have bearing based on if we lose to Sydney...

GWS go above us pushing us into 6th therefore Geelong go above Melb finishing in 7th. GWS lose we finish 5th and Melb go above Geelong finishing 8th.

Thats if we lose to Sydney, Beat Sydney and its either West Coast or Richmond or at a LONG LONG LONG stretch... (ridiculous results aka WCE losing their final 2) we can play Collingwood.
If melb win today that changes.

If we beat Sydney, its still possible we play the Pies at the G. West coast would have to lose to Brisbane at the Gabba, which is possible.

If we lose to Sydney-

If Melbourne beat GWS, we play GWS.

If GWS beat Melbourne, it will depend on how much Geelong thrash GC by. If they make up 5% points, we play Geelong. Otherwise Melbourne.

Play the Tigers. Whoever beats them will win the flag.

It's a wonderful opportunity.

Beat Sydney and we play Richmond. There's a small chance we play Collingwood (Brisbane have to beat WC and we have to overtake them by 0.3%).

Lose to Sydney, and we play Melbourne/GWS/Geelong. If Melbourne beat GWS then we play GWS. If GWS win (but Geelong don't gain enough percentage vs GC) we play Melbourne.

I think we're just lacking the class this year. We actually have a good bottom 6 but we're still 1-2 preseasons and 2-3 recruits off being genuine flag chances. Getting finals games into this group of younger players will be crucial in keeping them hungry for success. So I'd rather go against Richmond, and hopefully go as far as a Preliminary.

With Melbourne winning it opens up a potential EF against the Giants in Melbourne. For that to happen:

1. We lose to Shitney (50/50)
2. Melbourne best GWS (50/50)
3. Other results go as expected (Geelong, Collingowood and WC all win).

Wouldn’t mind taking on a depleted Giants at the G.

Of course finishing top 4 would be preferable.

Our recent history against the Giants doesn’t inspire me to welcome that clash. Their record at the G isn’t great though - would be interesting.

Hawks win by more than pIes = WCE V Hawks Thursday night
Hawks win by less than pies = Tigers v Hawks Friday night
swans win Dees win = Hawks v GWS Sat night
Swans win GWS win = Hawks v Dees or Cats depending on % Sat arvo.
If we win, Pies win and WC lose it is Hawks v pIes Friday MCG. I like this one best,

If we lose and get Giants at Etihad I will rage.
