Now that we are assured of going into at least Week 2 of the finals, here is a thread specifically relating to finals tickets, how to get them, when to get them, you get the drift...

Hopefully the moderators could sticky this as I am sure it is going to be a topic of discussion for Cats fans.

Man I'm tempted to fly down and see the game at the 'G.
My wife would kill me, but I'd love to be there for a winning final.

As for the GF (if/when we make it), not only am I not a member and could not afford to buy off a scalper... I don't think my heart could handle watching it live at the 'G.
I'm going to be watching in my loungeroom, with 000 on speed dial just in case.

We'll want as many people there at the G if we play an interstate side, but if we happen to play Hawthorn or North tickets may be taken very quickly indeed.

If we verse these sides at the G we should get:
vs Port- 55k
vs North- 70k+
vs Syd- 65k+
vs Coll- 85-90k
vs Haw- 80k
vs WC- 60k+
vs Adel- 60k

If I'm just your average member what are my chance of getting tickets to the first final?
Is it better to ring or use the net?

cheers :)
I was talking with some crew form GFC on sunday and they said that it looks like we will have more ppl than we have tickets for so what they are planning is for every member that wants a ticket will have to register and if that number exceeds the no. of tickets they will balot.

She asked about week one of the finals. All members should have no problem getting a ticket (assuming it's at the MCG).

I go to most finals every year regardless of who is playing and have never ever had any problem getting a ticket except of course for the GF.
The more the merrier. Lots of Vic teams playing in September is how God intended footy to be!! Pure footy not interstate crap.

So should I just do it through the net on ticketmaster?
That should be fine I would imagine, but I have always gone into an outlet since I don't own a credit card.

GFC members should have no problems getting tickets to the first two weeks of finals. Back in 2005, I was undecided about going to the Melbourne final until about the Wednesday, but had no trouble getting a ticket in a fairly good spot.

As for a Grand Final ticket should we make it, unless you are a Social Club or September Member (which I am lucky enough to be), all I can say is good luck for the Monday morning queue because I know how difficult it is getting them. In 1994, we were second in line at Myer Geelong, but as we're at the counter deciding what we want, the woman behind was constantly saying "No, they're gone", "Nope, gone too". They were literally disappearing off the screen. We ended up just taking whatever out of fear of missing out. And this was 13 years ago! Things are even harder now I'm led to believe.

The last 3 finals I went to in 2004 & 2005 I simply rocked up to Kardinia Park on the Monday afternoon, flashed a hand full of memberships at them and bought my tickets. You could've even done a walk up on the day and still got in although I don't recommend it. But still. You could've done it.
The Grand Final is the one to worry about. It will be all out war to get tickets for that one.

That is correct.
No physical queuing at all this year.

Just many anxious hours hitting f5 and listening to an engaged signal.

Yeah, I heard similar things. Do you have an article I can look at? I'm not saying I don't trust you - I know you are right! I'm just wondering if you have something I can read and pass onto others! :)

As someone eligible for GF tickets last year, I can confirm that the procedure for getting GF tickets changed in 2006. In 2005 one had to get in a queue to get tickets. In 2006 now one has to get on the phone at 7 am on Monday morning. You will need your membership on hand so you can quote the number.

A word of warning too. The lines opened at 7 am and were originally going to keep running for a day or two. The lines closed early, probably because all available tickets had been sold. If the Cats do the same thing as the Swans did last year (likely), you will also not be able to buy in bulk but will need a membership barcode for each ticket you plan to buy. You won't be able to buy extras.

The procedure for 2007 GFC members may be a little different to that which I have outlined. I expect that the GFC will send a mailout in the next few weeks that will explain how the GF ticket purchasing will work.
