Opinion First Captain under Walsh?

This club continues to make great decisions since the arrival of rucciuto. Tex will be a great leader of men and will hold up the premiership cup within the next 3 years! Great appointment.

Yep I tend to agree. I would have preferred Sloane. I love Tex but he can get fiery. Love the way he comes into take up the challenge if we are being pushed around. I just fear he doesn't know how to control himself at times. His passion may dictate that he does some stupid un-necessary retaliation. I would hate to see our new captain being sidelined through a report.

Personally I glad it sounds like Dangerfield is not being considered.

Johnno Brown did the exact same thing in his career, nobody remembers that now.

Really pleased with the decision, but feel sad for Rory and Danger. Do we know if they are in the leadership group at least?

I'm sure there will be a lot of talk about the vice captains not being appointed. Kind of ignores the fact that they were only appointed because of VBs injury and Walker wouldn't have been considered as he was coming back from a knee reco.

They both are.

It's a ballsy decision; even with our brave new era, I didn't expect a decision this bold.

I like it - assume Sloane and Danger will be VCs, if we have them.

It’s been a little while since some real news came from the club, and this is big today. As it is a forum, I will give my 2c worth, if anyone cares. I haven’t read everyone’s thoughts on this appointment yet, but personally, I love it.
Quite simply, I feel the reason Tex has the C, is he is heart and soul passionate about our great club. His heart beats blue, red, and gold. He only wants the best for the team, ie signing on early, protecting players. His focus is only the Adelaide Football Club, and that is what we all love about him. The simple fact is, our playing group walk taller when he is around. That is essentially what you want in a captain(as well as being good enough to be first 22 each week obviously). Of course, there are others in the leadership group, that will be based in the midfield, that can also assist with his work, when needed, and lead by example too.

Of course, there are fears, in that, it will affect the way he plays, it might be an unnecessary burden on him, or he may embarrass in a press conference etc.

I believe this is worth the risk, and it is fantastic!

holy shit we have nailed the off season so far. bring on the season proper. theres a lot to like about the direction we're heading in

Agree with everything except the description of our club as being great. I feel we are on finally heading in that direction, but we have been an ordinary club for many years. Neither great nor horrible, just ordinary.

Tex or sloane or tex C , sloane VC great choice ....danger a little to self absorbed on field to be skipper....tex will lift another level as captain......king Carey 2 hopefully with a better ending

Hell, I'm sorry, but I'd take 2 Premierships a sex scandal with a teammate, and him being sold to Melbourne in his declining years, in a heartbeat.

In fact, I'd do a lot of unspeakable things for 2 more premierships for us.

A tight game at Adelaide Oval in front of 50,000. Tex takes a pack mark and kicks the winner from 50 on the boundary. Imagine the crowd. At first I was negative about this but thinking about it now this is going to be special.

Also worth pointing out Taylor's involvement with the community. He shaved his mullet to raise money for the little girl who was suffering an illness. Also when thebush fires happened lately he was the first one there to support the community. Also stayed in Adelaide this off season and did a lot of stuff for the Crows.

I know that if I was Dangerfield or Sloane right now I would be looking for a pen.
