Can't understand posts like this. I have seen him play a few Melbourne games, and, although he appeared awkward, I was impressed by his endevour, aggression, and determination. He also took some good contested grabs. I suspect our club saw the same potential as I did.

Well put.

Hawthorn hunt down character and good people. Do you think Clarko hasn't seen the "right stuff" in this bloke. It takes character to be a Hawk.

This young fellow has tons of it. If anyone who talks about him but doesn't know his background and some of the hurdles he's jumped over , then you are speaking blindly.

Hawthorn has spent hard years winning three flags and , they too have jumped some hurdles! I think Jacks right at home .

Kyle Cheney was also discarded by Melbourne and was a key part in helping us keep ticking over wins and getting top 4. And at Adelaide he was best 22 and played finals.

Currently Fitzpatrick is 3rd choice ruck behind McEvoy and Ceglar. He will play at least 1 game next year. He was never going to beat out Gawn (future star) and Spencer at Melbourne but is a chance to push our 2 to perform.

Maybe but he was delisted by Melbourne yes they may not be the best at developing talent but he has had plenty of chances. As a depth point of view I actually like, but him being a regular in the 22 surely not

Ceglar was delisted at Collingwood, a team with massive depth issues in their rucks. We've done alright at developing him subsequently.

Let's just remember he cost us nothing but the smallest piece of cap space. If he does anything positive in his time here then it's a win.

Why even sign him then? I think he'll be playing before a looooong list of injuries occur. I don't expect him to be as good as Frawley or David Hale.

Btw. Hawthorn may not be miracle workers(we are already premiership workers) but a man named 'Çyril Rioli' is. You never know what a Wizard like Cyzza could do to enhance the powers of Fitz.

Hopefully we'll see that this fellow has more than, a lot of Hawks think.

For McEvoy and Ceglar they have a very good back up.

His game numbers for Melbourne are low, because he has had issues you would know about.

I think it is all there . Just needs some time and luck, and we have a great new Ruckman .

It's gonna sound a bit funny, but Fitz' is the quickest of all the ruckman in the comp!!! He does move well, can kick goals on the run and not bad overhead. I know, the next question is then why did he not make it at Melbourne? Well, other than an already established Vince and a heart and soul Nate Jones, no ONE has!!! Make of that what you will.

I just checked the Combine records and Fitzpatrick has the fifth fastest time ever for the 6 by 30 metre repeat sprints ahead of our own Cyril Rioli.

When people start talking about a ruck's speed, agility or ball handling below their knees I start to worry.
;)

Having seen many Deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees games - I believe Max Gawn and Jess Hogan are the 2 players that have kept Fitz out of the team and consequently put on the not wanted pile.
Happy to see him a Hawk:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

I had a thought the other day:

The hawks keep recruiting delisted and excess players from minnow clubs like Melbourne (Bruce, Cheney, Fitzpatrick to name a few recent ones*) and North (Hale, Gibson). And a few delisted players from clubs right before their descent from premierships like Port (Burgoyne, Dew), Collingwood (Ceglar), Sydney (Spangher) & Geelong (Simpkin)

Is this just a long-standing troll of taking players shit (or soon to be shit) clubs think are useless and turning them into premiership players?

And then when we send them players back, they turn to absolute shit (Robbie Campbell, Young, Brown, Renouf, et al). Ellis, Franklin & Kennedy are pretty much the only players that have maintained or improved their output after leaving. (special mention goes to Savage, who may or may not continue to improve)

Based on this, dark days are ahead for North and Anderson.

*Frawley not listed as was considered best 22

delisted by dees and drafted by hawks for a reason. he provides insurance and flexibility at pretty much the lowest possible financial and contractual commitment undertaken by hawks.

Seems very level headed. Can't wait to yell out FITTZZZZZZZZZZZYY! whenever he takes a grab

Geez X, are you some kind of closet masochist?

In my years of watching football, the least entertaining side to watch has been Melbourne. There was that brief period under Northey and another with Daniher as coach, but they remain the least watchable team in my lifetime.

Using my MCC membership to the limit.

Not my fault the Deeeees are there to display their wares;)
I suppose you are always guaranteed to get a seat. It's not like people are knocking the gates of the MCG down to watch the most underwhelming team of the last 50 years.

If you go in to the AFL members at a dees' game you can share a whole bay with a dozen or so people.
