ok so guys thought it would be worth a thread to see what evryone thinks will be the key points for the doggies to get up against the weagles.
FIVE BIG INS: I think for us it is very crucial that we have these 5 blokes back. Libba will be great in the contest, he is an absolute animal and is made for finals footy. So is jake stringer, if he fires up he could be the x-factor, game changer that we need. Macrae will hopefully be back to his usual best being that link up player who is someone who can give great delivery as we enter through the middle third of the ground. Roughy is obviously a big in as we get our usual first choice, mobile ruckman back this week. And last but not least easton wood the stand-in skipper could be the biggest in of all. He will be crucial in the back half taking those intercept marks and setting up attacks on the rebound. He will also lead from the front and provide inspiration to his teammates.
PRE-FINALS BYE: Could be an enormous factor. Out of the top 8 it has probably helped us the most and the eagles the least. We were lucky that we have this week off and were able to get wood, libba and macrae back, and west coast are unlucky because they we're the form side of the competition and probably would have had the edge, but now it is a clean slate and most of the momentum is lost.
SUCKLING AND STRINGER NEED TO FIRE: These two could be the difference tommorow night. As mentioned earlier, if Jake Stringer catches fire he could change the game almost single-handedly. Matty Suckling needs to get his act together. If he can get his kicking right, after his miserable last few weeks of the regular season, he could set up a lot of attacks and be the crucial player in our system that we brought him in for. If this happens it could be the difference between winning and losing.
FORWARD ENTRY QUALITY: Something we have lacked all year, is that final kick inside 50. We dont have much quality in this area, but we need the boys just to hit the kicks. If this happens it could help us kick a higher score, which leads me onto my next point.
SCORING WOES: I remember last year, we used to be one of the most attacking sides in the comp. Now we are the new scrappy fremantle of old. I think we need to find a steady balance becuase in two years we have seen the two extremes. If we can sort this out, we could be a force to be reckoned with in September and hopefully October.

Has to be no nicnat, lycett on one leg and giles as there rucks won't smash Roughead and Boyd I actually think Jong could prove a real weapon as third man up!

Also there backline always matches up well on us will be interesting to se if Yeo goes to Stringer if so then could be the most important battle out there.

Funnily enough I'm not as worried about kennedy as I have been in the past I think our zone counters his strengths (angled leads) a bit. Predict he will still kick a few.

Matt Boyd/Morris/wood and picken to stand strong

Libba to be best on ground :)

Hope it pisses down with rain taking their aerial weapons out
of the game, we should have the advantage on the ground
like the Sydney game last year. Fair bit of dice rolling at the
selection table this week, MC looked like crown casino.

Didn't Sydney come back at us once it started raining? I thought we had a good lead and the rain put it back in their favour. I could be wrong. The memory banks aren't too flash these days

Number one thing for me is shut down Gaff. Before last year he had ordinary form and West Coast was ordinary, he was brilliant last year and they reached a grand final, quieter first half of his year and team looked flakey back to best in later part of season and they look great again. He is so important as there team is pedestrian without his run, stop him kicking into 50 and linking up is how you beat WC. Get feeling Bev has had a plan in making with Picken going to sidebottom few weeks ago as a test run, Picken hard tag on Gaff who doesnt handle hard tags well

1. Don't bomb it in the forward line.
2. Tackle, tackle and tackle.
3. We beat them last time, drawn on that for confidence.
4. Their midfield is not as good as ours.
5. Shop early and shut up the Ferrarals, Boooooooo

Picken will need to be careful because the umps will be swayed very easily by the natives and they'll be looking for any opportunity to give the Eagles a free kick.

Close tight and low scoring and ugly, with the game balance going
to the shorter side. More referring to the style of game.

6 goals in the first qtr will really help. If we can do that, I think we are a big chance. Go Dogs!

Agree a good start is crucial, if we are in front at the end of the first quarter I give us a good chance. No ruck for them helps, and they have brought in Brown as ruck support, a slow player.

It's funny every team's fans think their team are wet weather specialists
Brad Scott and his whinging about the Etihad roof would like a word with you...

It would be almost better if the umps throw away their whistles and make it a free for all. That way, we shouldn't see decisions swayed by the home town crowd. I have a very long memory!
