Of goddamn awful bloody television coverage if the product served up thus far is any indication.

Memo to the people who are broadcasting these things, the primary focus of the game is the football.

The inordinate amout of close in shots just lose the whole focus of where the ball is in relation to the goals. Those tight in shots of the forward pockets are simply awful. Every other ball sport gives coverage of the whole field, court, pitch etc. Except ours, which is played on the biggest arena (cricket aside) just about going.

Why?

Really hope they lose interest in all this 'whiz-bang' stuff and focus on the GAME. So far the start of this season has been a non-issue with off-field drama's much overwhelming the actual matches played. The television (so called) coverage hasnt helped much there either.

For 500 million its a chore to look at as a neutral observer. Not looking forward to viewing it at all when it is MY team that is being broadcast.

Lift your game nine and ten, it will lift OUR game if you do.

Well said Grendel!! The stupid camera when the ball goes into the pocket is disorientating. The play happens to quick for a camera like that to be of any use other than a slow-mo replay....you end up losing touch of where the ball is in relation to the field and its a waste of time.

Next they wont even have TV coverage- they wont allow broadcasting at all..........

And then they wont allow anyone to go to the games..

Go Roos

Exactly Grendal.

I posted a thread on this topic a while ago and all I say the broadcasters should do is what soccer broadcasters do. Have one camera high on the wing and follow the play with a fairly wide angle and do not continually switch the cameras between close ups and wide shots.

The networks only need to use the close ups and goofy camera angles when neccessary not every other second of play. The close up is a valuable part of the telecast but only if it's used judiciously. It may be simple and not very sexy but the 1 or 2 cameras on the wing are what should be used for 80% of the game.

Agree with Grendel and Macca,

The coverage is poor and both channels need to lift their game.
With cameras zooming in and out, somethings are missed.

Where's Channel 7? :(

I still can't believe I had to go to a PUB to watch my team play in a H&A. :(
