First and possibly last PD.

1. ESS McCluggage
Goal-kicking mid too good to overlook.
Others in the mix: McGrath

2. GWS McGrath
Traded up twice to get this player.
Others in the mix: Ainsworth & Taranto

3. BL Ainsworth
Always had Ainsworth in mind when trading down from 2 to 3. To get Ainsworth and pick 16 was always the plan.
Others in the mix: McCluggage - if Ess go with McGrath

4. GC Taranto
Exactly what the Suns need - a classy goal-kicking mid with a lot of upside.
Others in the mix: SPS & Brodie

CARL Will bid on BOWES & SETTERFIELD
5. GC Bowes
No brainer here - Bowes is a future star

6. GWS Setterfield
McGrath & Setterfield in the one draft - WOW

7. CARL SPS
Would have selected Taranto if available but SPS would be a great pick up. Classy Mid/HF that will be a crowd favourite by the end of the season.
Great thing for all Carlton fans, is that one of Taranto or SPS should be in Blues colours next year - well done to SOS in not trading away pick 5 this year.

8. FREM English
It's either English or Logue with this pick.
With the recruitment of Hamling, they may go with English (Fwd/Ruck) with this pick.
Others in the mix: Logue & Scrimshaw

9. GC Brodie
Although his stocks have diminished slightly towards the end of the year, Brodie is the type of player (tallish mid) that GC will closely look at with all their early picks. Expect him to be at GC at pick 8 or 10.
Others in the mix: Scrimshaw

SYD Will bid on PERRYMAN
10. GWS Perryman
GWS will match this bid

11. SYD Logue
With Sydney light on for key backmen, Logue would be the perfect player to draft here as he will not be available at their next pick (19)
Others in the mix: Florent & Simpkin

12. GC Scrimshaw
Bowes, Taranto, Brodie and Scrimshaw in the one draft. All add different qualities to the suns.

13. NTH Florent
I think that they will go with Florent as the Mid/HF would add some much needed pace to their midfield rotation.
Others in the mix: Berry & Simpkin
North can't go wrong with this pick as there will be some very good players (Florent, Berry & Simpkin) to choose from.

14. WCE SPP
Probably the hardest one for me to select as there are some very good players on the board to choose from. SPP is the type of player they need and could play senior football next year. SPP was rated a top 10 pick earlier in the year and I wouldn't be surprised in the Eagles pulled the trigger here.
Others in the mix: Shai Bolton & Berry

15. ADEL Will Hayward
Classy half forward from SA. Adelaide will get in before Port.
Others in the mix: Simpkin, Berry & Gallucci

16. PORT J. Gallucci
Gallucci is probably the best of the mids available at this pick. If Hayward is available here, they will select him.
Others in the mix: Simpkin, Berry & Venables

17. BL J. Simpkin
As a lion supporter, it's a hard decision to make to choose between Simpkin and Berry.
Simpkin gets the nod as he is a ready made player and along with Ainsworth and Schache (all Vic Country boys) will develop into a formidable combination.
Others in the mix: Berry

18. PORT Berry
Port will not be able to resist Berry here, a tall HB/mid with great leadership skills. Will play senior football next year.
Others in the mix: Venables & Graham

19. WB Marshall
Tall forward that will in the future form a great combination with Boyd.
Others in the mix: Battle & B.Cox

20. SYD Luke Ryan
Another hard one to select. Do they pull the trigger with Luke Ryan or do they go with a Bolton like player. Others to choose from here could be a string of GWS academy players. If they go with Florent/Simpkin at pick 9 (11), expect them to select B.Cox here.
Others in the mix: Bolton, Mutch & Macreadie

21. ESS Venables
Will be interested to see whether the bombers go with a mid or a forward (Battle).
I think they will go with a mid and Venables fits the bill.
Others in the mix: Battle & B. Cox

22. BL Witherden
With Ainsworth and Simpkin already selected, Witherden will be the perfect player to draft here. HB with very good foot skills.

23. BL J. Ridley
Tall intercept defender that can play in other positions on the ground. Complements the selections of Ainsworth, Simpkin and Witherden.
Others in the mix: J. Graham & B.Cox

24. STK B. Cox
With the retirement of Fisher, Cox would be the future key defender
Others in the mix: Jack Maibaum & P.Kerr

25. GEEL C. Cox
Classy, ball-carrying defender - great fit for the cats.
Others in the mix: J. Graham & J. Atley

26. CARL W. Drew
Consistent ball winner.
Others in the mix: J. Atley & P. Kerr

27. WB J Maibaum
With the loss of Hamling, Maibaum could be the perfect replacement.
If they don't select Marshall at the earlier pick, expect them to select Battle here.
Others in the mix: J. Battle & J. Rotham

28. RICH P. Kerr
Key Forward
Others in the mix: E. Himmelberg & J. Battle

29. ESS J. Battle
Key position goalkicker could go anywhere between 20 - 30.
Others in the mix: J. Atley & S. Bolton

30. PORT J. Graham
No brainer here and Graham could go anywhere from Ports pick 18 to end of 2nd round.
Others in the mix: Parfitt & Walker

31. PORT S. Walker
32. NTH J. Begley
33. NTH B. Parfitt
34. WCE S. Bolton
35. FREM E. Himmelberg
36. STK D. Clarke
37. GEEL J. Atley
38. FREM Z. Fisher

Bids Matched in the 2nd round
I. Cummings (GWS)
B. Scheer (GC)
H. Macreadie (GWS)
K. Mutch (GWS)
C. Brown (COLL)

Other Teams
Melbourne J Scharenberg
Collingwood J. Rotham
Hawthorn T. Williamson

great work Flea, would take Ainsworth, Simpkin and Witherden in a heartbeat for us. Ridley not so sure, i think Declan Watson would be a similar type to Ridley.

given a choice of the players you had as still available at Ridley's pick i would go in order- Cummings (bid), Bolton, Parfitt, Drew, Clarke, Fisher.

I think you're right mate. However, I feel that the club might look at a player like Ridley - intercept marking defender.
Any of those players you mentioned would also be great.
There is a lot of good players in the top 30.

Yeah I think Lions could add a mid instead of Ridley and that would be a good draft

There is a lot of good players in the top 30.

If they did go down that path id much rather Rotham who adds better position flexibility and has more tricks in his bag

34. WCE S. Bolton

I like you.

Would absolutely love to bring in both SPP and Bolton. More than fills needs for us. I just fear that West Coast don't share the same views regarding SPP at their first. I believe he's more of a need than Berry/ Gallucci etc... Bolton is one I would not be surprised to see there at 34 as I think he's a flight risk tbh, more so than SPP & SPS.

Your thoughts are very similar to my two WCE mates. They feel that SPP would be a perfect fit, but think with players like Berry & Simpkin available at this point that they may 'play safe'. Personally, SPP would be a very good addition at the lions.
BTW, my mates fear is that WCE go for English with their first pick.

Are we mates IRL? My thoughts exactly, regarding Berry, Simpkin & English. My views on this is that the club already has what each of those players bring, except maybe Simpkin, but then again I haven't seen much of him for obvious reasons. SPP adds something totally different to the list that we really do lack across HF and through the middle the only player that bursts through a pack with pace and strength is Shuey. We already have a Berry type in Duggan, however Duggans kicking is better than Berrys. I share the same fears as your mates, if English slides the recruiters may see him too good to pass up. After saying that I don't mind Berry, but for me it's time to pick up a player who'll add a point of difference with some stand out qualities. We have enough mids that are all rounders, those jack of all trades master of none types with good character who will help a bloke up off the floor after tackling him during a grand final. We need some aggressive campaigners who will intimidate the opposition and do anything to drag the team with them, someone who has absolute pride and passion for the jumper they're wearing.

I can tell you now if SPP lands at the Lions pick he will be one that won't leave IMO, comes across as a very loyal character. Also, what's your reasoning behind Bolton at 34? Same views as mine?

Not sure why Bolton slid to 34. I think part of me wants Bolton to stay in WA and my mates are keen to get both SPP and Bolton. Bolton could go anywhere from late first round to mid 30s.
When you look at the teams selecting prior to WCE (2nd round), their needs are slightly different - Key position players / in and under mids and may overlook Bolton.

As for SPP.
When you look at the talent at WCE now, SPP would be a great addition and would learn alot from players such as Hurn. He is the type of player that could play in round 1 next year.

Yeah, fair call. I hope it works out that way.

DV and Bolton will be ok with me. Hopefully we bend PA over in a few years for SPP the same way they did with Brad Ebert :D
