i reckon his presence was felt a bit more today. not looking like a natural first year goalkicker, but, just but, when cameron matures, i reckon they will be fairly lethal, eventually

Was at the game just gone. Izzy got free a couple of times in the forward 50 but teammates either didn't see him, or felt more confident going to another target.

He needs a decent game, and for his teammates to start trusting him a little more.

Yup. He was ignored a lot which seemed to discourage him. Maybe is leading isn't quite there but he is not helped by the midfield.

I thought he had a really good first quarter against the Dogs but seemed to struggle after hitting his head at the end of the first quarter.

He's showing signs right now. A good 10 minutes, a solid quarter, a great mark etc that suggest to me that he will eventually become a good contributor for GWS provided he's willing to stick at it.

Yep, good first quarter against the Dogs, but by the final term he was dead on his feet. At times in the second half he wasn't moving much off the ball at all. Will take time to develop the tank required for elite football, but each week we're seeing positive signs. Also, he tackled a Bulldogs player in the first half, and that player took a looooong time to get up :thumbsu:

Can people explain why some people are so hard on a 5 game player? Don't most players hit their peak around 100 games?

I think it's the media more than people. I'd also say his high profile doesn't help plus the fact he's on so much coin. Looking much better since the first few weeks disappointing weeks :thumbsu:

Really good summary.

The first goal came about because he contested in the air with three Bullies (and pole axed Brian Lake in the process), causing a spillage which became the goal.

He has heart and he plays a team game. He is the total team man and is loved & respected within the organisation. The raw materials are excellent, and he is visibly growing before us. He will be an absolute backman devouring monster in a couple of years time, but it won't be overnight. Karmichael Hunt's trajectory is pretty much on par with where our Izzy will be going.

He has my complete respect.

wow. id written him off.

he was a lazy trainer in the NRL. he'lll have to get over that. lucky you have the interchange. the interchange rule has seen islander heritage players domminate player numbers in the NRL tyo the point that 30% of players are now of islander heritage.

it will happen in your game also eventually...

What has impressed me the most is Folau's ability to recover in the contest. He's quite quick to recover and force a second and third effort for a big man. Secondary to that point is the effectiveness of Folau's handballs. The handball he shot through to Giles giving him a shot on goal in the fourth was a top piece of football.

League players tend to have a lot of core strength, making them hard to tackle, and fast hands.

That isnt a bad place to start for an inside player ... jesus, I think I have his future role figured.

Big ruckman man at stoppages, who can also receive, shrug off a tackle and get his arms free to dish the ball to the outside.

He doesnt chase packs around, but rests at CHF when there isnt a stoppage.

I think he set up four or five goals just by a combination of being able to lock the ball in the forward line by standing over the ball and forward pressure until our midfield or Giles got up there. Can't wait until he starts holding some of those marks though, and has the confidence to go back and kick for goal. He was pretty good at both last year.

Was enlightening watching live on Saturday. He has the skills, but a long, long way to go for game awareness and positioning. Will be so interesting to see if he has a K Hunt type hunger for the contest and continue in our game. His mental awareness mirrors the fact that he was an outside back in league. Their prime focus is on half of the ground and attacking/defending territory primarily front on. His 360 degree awareness needs massive work. Also I would suggest that Jeremy Cameron has an incedible amount to improve, great talent, but took too long to really enter the contest. Their key forwards were at 60% of capacity for most of the game. The great victory shows a spectacular scope for improvement. These two "boys" have the potential to take the game by the scruff of the neck, rather than playing cameos. Smarts and desire the key.

Their best key forward in Patton hasn't even played a game yet. If he's half as good as he's supposed to be opposition team are going to Benin trouble with the midfield they are building. GC lack a forward target that can kill teams, that will hurt them unless they can pinch on in free agency.
