“I’m outraged Izzy dared to say he doesn’t like something and they might Be going to an imaginary place”

“I wanna see someone physically beat him till he dies”

You people are all insane. Seriously, absolutely ******* cooked 😂

I don't actually know want him beaten to death. That kind of thinking is reserved for religious extremists

The code of conduct defines matters that label a breach as "high level". These include that “the conduct may have caused offence to the general public’s sensibilities” … and that … “The conduct more than likely breaches Rugby Australia’s core values.”

These are very difficult concepts about which reasonable minds might differ. Even Rugby Australia’s inclusion policy is not without its difficulties. Clearly the intent is to whole-heartedly "include" the gay community in the rugby movement. But is its intention to "exclude" traditional Christian and other religious beliefs? The controversy threatens to become a legal and moral minefield.

Rugby's case against Folau is a legal and moral minefield

Aussie UFC fighter Tai tuivasa goes bang on Izzy's comments

Wouldn't mind seeing Tai flatline Izzy to be honest.
The irony of you being outraged at Folau's comments yet happy to state youd be happy for him to be beaten.

This is the exact shit the offended would jump on lol. Can you see the delicate balance, I'm sure you were making a joke but so are countless people that get in trouble for the same. The only difference is you get to hide behind anonymity.

That's fine but I was responding to someone who said Folau brought politics into sport. He wasn't the one to initiate that. That happened when Rugby Australia charged him for sharing his religious views. I dont think Folau posted with the intention to spark a debate and legal hearing on religious freedom (is what his lawyers will argue) for professional athletes.

Then he must be excessively stupid/naive, because he'd been warned not to post this stuff in the past and he kept doing it. He's not some 12 year old playing with his dad's PC during the holidays. Rugby Australia are hardly the only people in the world offended by this stuff. They'd love to keep Folau, he's almost their best player, but public opinion will only put up with so much.

public opinion will only put up with so much.

Where do you think public opinion sits, given these figures from the most recent census?

There's no way 50% of the population are practicing Christians. What you put down on a census form and what you believe are different.

Nowadays I almost never meet anyone who believes in the baby jebus

Thae latter is more a comment on your social circles than anything else. Reckon you'll find at the very least that 50% of people support Folau's right to express his beliefs, without necessarily agreeing with what he said.

Of course I am not saying he is smart or clever to do it, or that I would want to do the same. I'm just advocating for his right to make his own decision to express his religious views. And he was not the one who brought politics into sport.

Can you name what rights of people Folau violated and how he discriminated against them . For discrimination to occur an INDIVIDUAL has to be discriminated against .

Who did he discriminate against and how did he discriminate ?
It does not need to be an individual, it can be a group or class of people who are victims of discrimination.
He stated that due to the person they inherently are that they would be going to hell. He said this after making a commitment to his employer that he would not make this type of statement, AGAIN!

conflating Adulterers and Homosexuals with those serious crimes is ludicrous and very offensive

Did folau for example remain celibate* outside marriage?

Seems to be missing from the debate

I'm tipping hes done plenty of repentin'

Your last sentence sums it up perfectly . It is a breach of contract (Apparently) . If it was actual discrimination he would have been sacked the first time

For discrimination to occur you have to deny people a right/ service /opportunity based on their sexuality . That did not occur .

If people think he is a campaigner and a bigot I am ok with that but it was not discrimination

How can you punish someone for directly following Christian values

I would have thought "Christian values" meant living your life in accordance with Christian morals, which includes the ethos "live and let live" and not attacking others for what they may believe in. I'm torn in this argument because although I believe people should be able to stand up and voice their opinions (within reason), I'm also one who believes if you are willing to accept money from an employer, you work under certain rules and guidelines that prohibit you from voicing your opinions if they are contrary to those of your employer. It makes for an interesting debate. Although society exists under the premise of "freedom of speech", there really is no such animal. None of us enjoy the freedom to say whatever we like.

Sorry but plenty of Christian groups openly say every group he named is going to hell.

I don’t understand the issue? I certainly don’t agree with it and I personally have no time for religion but that’s his opinion and he is following it as guided by many a church.
