Chuckled when Caro said that early on Sat night it looked as if Buckley was going to be "literally cooked". What, Eddie was going to force him into an oversized microwave and roast him at 400 degrees if the Pies lost?

I'd of thought that a spit-roast was more in keeping.

Caro dishonest again Using stats to retcon her votes for the RichmondvEssendon game, she said that he had x ineffective kicks and another 2 kicks were clangers .. . . except clangers ARE ineffective. So she's counting 2 ineffective kicks twice, assuming the clangers were even kicks in the first place, and not free kicks against, or fumbles, etc. Pure obscurantism by Caro, clouding her rationale in a flurry of vague stats.

Yeah, it was a pretty floundering defence by her. Even fell back on ‘because I’m a woman’ defence when real issue was driven by her frustration that Martin may leave Richmond and her voting was a reflection of that (and the Richmond admin who she’s acted like a PR firm for at times).

As for the show itself, I noticed that the confrontations that have defined it seemed toned down this year. The issue of Craig & Pickering I reckon would’ve been a much bigger blowup in previous years. Perhaps they’ve gotten feedback to tone that down a bit this year.

Also, is that the first ever Caro’s Arrow directed at exclusively how a player performed in a match?

Was Martin really that much better? I'm thinking he gets far more praise than he warrants.
From what I saw of the game, I was more casually observing, he didn't dominate like the voting suggests and looking at the stats, he didn't outdo either Cotchin or Ellis in contested possession. Efficiency of 56% vs Ellis' 90%. Cotchin was higher also and had more influence late. Martin had more tackles and nothing else stood out. Score involvements, Martin had 1 more than Ellis and minimal influence late.

I'm not keen on defending Caro but is Martin severely overrated? Was he really that good?

Contextually - He is vital to Richmond. A better game plan this year, and an in-form Dusty frees up Cotchin etc. and he can spell down forward and play a mini-Ablett Snr role out of the square.
Brandon Ellis was probably BOG at Dreamtime though, just I think Martin's acts caught the eye.

This is all I need to know. You would think Dusty was 10 times better than anyone judging on the clarity of votes done.
Voting is quite subjective and it seems in no way should you get such a clear cut BOG for this particular game.
It seems you could have Dusty, Ellis or Cotchin as BOG yet Dusty dominanted all voting.
It seems the media pump him up far far too much which leads to him being overrated.
I'm off to the Richmond board to see how you guys voted.

The way the media are piling on Caro you would think that Martin got 40 touches and kicked 5 goals. He was great, of course, but I don't think his performance and her votes for the game require this outcry against her and it becoming a story.

Bingo! I pretty much used that same line in another post I had. You would think Martin had 40 and the leading goal scorer. He was good but a clear stand out I think not!

I also just finished watching Luke Darcy talk about it on talking footy. Don't know if you saw it but far out he is a tool.

Thought Caro defended herself pretty well last night. The stupid commotion over who she gave votes to was absurd. Glad she went at Eddie and Brown for questioning her credibility.

Think it is laughable that people can say that Caro has no credibility on player voting and analysis after the amount of years she has covered the game. Now you can disagree with her, because these things are subjective, but that doesn't make a difference to credibility.

I don't like Caro at all and didn't see the game but assuming some of the stats she mentioned were correct (and I have no reason to doubt they were) then there was a reasonable justification for Martin not to get votes - 4 disposals in a pivotal final term is low for a player judged to be BOG

From all reports there wasn't a clear standout player and in some ways I think it took a degree of courage not to give him votes if she didn't think he deserved them. Suggesting she left him out as some sort of payback is pretty dumb

Either put the show on at a reasonable timeslot or don't bother doing the show at all.
they probably don't want to show it because no one in NSW watches it but have put it on so people can record if they want. bizarre attitude to sook about it being so late and advocating to just take it off the air so no one can see it, because it doesn't suit you

Last nights show was so much better with Buckley replacing Wilson. More talk about the game and less on irrelevancies

Say what you like about Buckleys coaching ability but he always speaks well and provides an intelligent, well articulated viewpoint.

To be fair to Caro, if you kept her on and replaced Hutchy with Bucks you'd get the same result. Having two journalists on a panel of four is one too many if you're looking for insight into what happens on field

Well considering I live in Sydney and would like to watch it, I think I have a right to sook up if it scheduled to go to air at a totally ridiculous timeslot.
