Footy Show

I watched the entire AFL Footy Show last night, and about 20 minutes of the NRL version, and it is sad to say the there was greater entertainment in 15 minutes of the NRL version than 120 minutes of the AFL version.

Eddie McGuire is not the problem, and the panellists were very good for a change. The format is a bit old, however Trevor comes up with an originally funny line now and again. The biggest problem is Newman. The bloke is so trapped in the past that he seems unable to move with the times. All his efforts at humour are predictable and lame, and his football knowledge is extremely dated. He tries to be controversial, but people realise that virtually all he says is garbage.

His snide remark about the ANZACs from last week was deplorable. I'd much rather listen to their stories all night than Newman pretending to be anything other than the pathetic old cretin he actually is. His send up of Hird's apology was ridiculous, he should be thanking Hird as that was the only decent ratings boost TFS has received in a long time.

The only thing missing last night was his acting as Eddies glove puppet, and a good dose of his sycophantic pandering. That should be rectified next Thursday however.

I agree, they showed some of the previous highlights to plug their 10 year dvd and i looked on wistfully....

Sam trying to be controversial constantly is tiring ( if he does nothing but complain...get him off!!!) I really struggle with his style of humour as well....

Bring back Garry Lyon, love his charisma.......

The NRL one has certainly moved with the times more than the AFL one. They used to be quite similar.

Fatty Vautin is much better than McGuire (and Fatty's on the board of Manly, but you wouldnt know it). Then their's the chief and Matty Johns. Great players, smart, and above all funny.

Is the AFL world so derth of personalities ?

I watched the footy show last night and thought that it was quite good.

Well Sam did apologise or at least tried to apologise for his actions from last week and got into trouble for turning up totally full of drink.

The NRL footy show is crap. It is crap because all they do is make fun of what has happened during the week including the stuff about that sex scandal earlier in the year.

The problem with the AFL Footy Show is that the AFL Footy show doesn't have any good segments. I mean who actually likes that Bulger $#!^?

There's no larrikanism, no stupidity, no mucking around. It's all taken too serious on the AFL Footy Show. Trevor is the only good thing on the AFL Footy Show!

People are simply not allowed to express their opinions and individuality. Look at what happened to James Hird for voicing an opinion. And when someone like Akermanis comes along and dares to be different, most of the footy public decides they don't like it.

When it comes to personalities, the game is almost sterile.

Last year, being up at odd hours feedin a baby, I managed to catch a few segments of the NRL footy show. I always thought it was an extremely inferior product to the AFL version (Mainly due to the AFL version telling us so).

However it is realy a breath of fresh air. They reguarly take **** outa themselves and the show provides some genuine laughs. The AFL Footy Show takes itself way too seriously and in the words of Sam are "Up em selves".

Kosi and Fevola were boring

Aker wasn't really given any material but was ok.

Very boring show really.

That doesn't really bother me. The only thing that bothers me is what comments are directed at me.

I watch the footy show because I follow the footy a bit closer than what you would do.
