This is deeply distressing. Cam was traded in on my 40th birthday. I was very excited he made it to his childhood club, so was he, it felt like the dawning of a new era with Pav retiring and obviously gutted when it didn't work out because of his talent.

Absolutely heartbroken and in shock, I think I will leave football alone today aside from watching the match tonight, of which the result now feels insignificant; but this is very upsetting. My thoughts and prayers to his loved ones and those that knew him. Another gone way too bloody soon, this hurts. Really hurts

The first of the 2013 draft picks to die.
First 1995 birth of the VFL/AFL to die.

RIP Cameron McCarthy, a bloke born on the day of Freo's first VFL/AFL game.

Having Meek would be lovely now. Can’t blame him though. And definitely wouldn’t be missing him if Jackson remembered how to play and Darcy stopped getting injured.

Still don’t understand why we ruined our return by getting JOM. Would’ve been happier to just trade Meek alone and gotten a low pick.

Was Ginnivan an option? Would’ve liked Schulz for Ginni and just get picks from Hawrhorn

By low pick you mean like a 3rd rounder right? unfortunately thats what unproven rucks go for, see Nank

Yeah but it also means we have that 2nd rounder we used on JOM.
Yeah thats a Jaegar only problem though, we definitely shouldn't have done that but we still would've got jackshit for Meek

Just happy he is doing well, we didn't need a ruckman so no hard feelings there at all.

Jl never played Meek and Darcy. Yet plays Jackson and Darcy, when fit.
Won’t play Reidy/Knobel with Jackson. Bizarre.

Always thought Meek’s professionalism and attitude increased in his last season. Now he goes for everything and is pretty useful once the ball hit the ground.

Darcy and Meek wouldn't work together, we had Lobb playing Jacksons role back then

Hawks will tell you it wouldn't work either, they had Reeves and Meek last year and it just didn't work, they opted for Reeves in the end, this year they have opted for Meek and he is absolutely killing it.

Jackson is a agile enough to play everywhere, thats why he works with Darcy.

It's not about playing Meek and Darcy. There is a very strong argument we should have kept Meek and traded Darcy. Most premierships are won with journeyman type rucks and spending the money elsewhere is a more likely strategy to win a flag.

Darcy was 23 when he won a b&f for us. Rucks dont do that. You don't trade that. Not to mention he'd played two full season with no recent injury concerns up until that point.
