We first orderd it in September, first time they cancelled installation because they didnt have the wires and needed council approval to dig, second time they came back it was raining so they couldnt install and now today they couldnt install because it was too hot....they are a freaking joke!

Make sure you get IQ. There is heaps of good programming on Foxtel but it isn't always when you want it. I have it record a few shows during the day which I watch at night.

Compared to most other large Australian complanies, I find Foxtel's customer service generally fantastic.

To be fair Alberton, they all sound like genuine reasons to me.

Firstly, the guys are only going by the council law.

It can only be used to record free to air tv not foxtel

Awesome. My DVD recorder is stuffed so I don't have the ability to record anything right now. It will probably mean I'll get more use out of my foxtel. I'll give them a call tomorrow.

The main attraction with Tivo is that it recognises which shows you like and then lets you know when other shows of a similar genre or topic are being shown.

The problem with Foxtel revolves around the fact that there is no competition. As such they have no incentive to improve their woeful picture quality, and get away with charging silly prices for a poor product. Have had Foxtel for 6 years and recently cancelled it. Simply wasn't worth it. You get the "Sports Package" then need to pay extra for Setanta Sports? Get real. Foxtel coming out with 4 full time HiDef channells this yr too, they'll get a nice kick out of charging extra for those channells also. We need some competition.

Setanta Sports is simply going through the Foxtel signal. They have nothing to do with Foxtel, they are a seperate entity and not part of the Foxtel package. It's like the free to air channels going through Foxtel, Foxtel have no control over those channels. If you have a bone to pick with Setanta you need to go directly to them, not to Foxtel. Not checking myself, but if you go to Foxtel's website I believe you'll find Setanta isn't mentioned anywhere.

Believe me, Tivo is nothing special. I live in Canada, have had IQ in Australia and have Tivo here, and there is no reason in my mind for people to get Tivo instead of IQ. If you think it's going to be the best thing since sliced bread, good for you... but I think you'll be disappointed.

By the way if you think Foxtel is bad service, try coming up here and spending $100 a month on 30 channels that show nothing but reality TV. Or you could pay nothing and get one channel that has nothing but Inuit news. You really don't know how lucky you are bud.

How did you install it yourself?

When they did mine they had to change the wall outlet because the foxtel IQ has 2 tuners instead of 1 so they ran another cable to my dish and now 2 cables come out the wall to the box.
