News Fremantle Likely to select Tiger Duo

That may be, but his forward pressure is outstanding. He creates turnovers and helps our forwards retain possession. A move to the midfield is not a huge departure for him (after all that was where he got AA U/18) and depending on injuries he can head back forward. His kicking has improved greatly and I am sure that he will continue to improve in 2012.

Looking forward to a big season from DeBoer.:D:thumbsu:

Agreed.

MDB's kicks are 'safe' in that he knows his limitations and sticks within them, almost always hitting a target - his handballs are even better. But he also often chips it on angles that open the ground up, showing good decision making. He has certainly improved to a solid field kick and just needs to stop psyching himself out in front of goal.

With a move to an inside mid role, could be a massive step up for MDB this year in terms of impact/output :thumbsu:

As for our worst kicks they remain JVB and Crowley - turnover merchants.

Broughts is very efficient by foot but you wouldn't call him elite....he can't whoof it 60metres onto someone's chest....Pav would be about our most elite kick I'd say....Mundy maybe but we don't have a Buckley or Dew or Heppell in our side. Stephen Hill's left is certainly elite but his right is very average...Suban & Walters are in that category also....looking at our list, it's probably an area we need to address. Morabito may improve to the point where he is elite...he can certainly hoof it a fair way!

Are you are you mean Heppel? Hill is a much better kick than Heppel on either side of his body. In fact Hill is one of the few Lefties going around that actually has a left foot. Most like Rich can't kick on their right at all.

I'll give you Crowley. His kicking is genuinely cr@p... loopy and frequently off target. And he often makes poor choices with where to put it.

But DeBoer's reputation for kicking outweighs the reality now. His field is now kicking is solid without being spectacular, and lacks a bit of penetration. But he's smart with it, as he typically chooses kicks that are within his range. Complete opposite to Crowley really.

Not everyone needs to be an elite kick. It'd be nice, but I'm happy with MDB's field kicking. At the end of next season I'll be surprised if people are still talking about it as a serious problem.

havign said that crowleys goal kicking is awesome (when he gets it)

Gees that was a Barry Crocker wasn't it! I deserved that! Nah I think you guys know what I meant. Hill is pretty decent on his RIGHT side unlike most lefties who can't kick at all on the non preferred.

Yep, but since he's so agile and his left is such a potent weapon you rarely see him use it.

The use of the non-preferred is not preferred by coaches who in the main prefer the use of the preferred. Except for Broughton of course who prefers to use the non-preferred unless of course he's kicking for goal when he prefers to use the preferred which in his case is usually the non-preferred - if you see what I mean.

so you're saying he doesn't prefer his preferred even when he prefers it? dude, that's so meta it's esoteric.

Correct Strobe, MDB's chip kicking was pretty good in that we generally retained possession. However when we have the ball the opposition doesn't need to man him up as they know he's not going to hurt them.

Therefore must be a crab ???????

Hi guys, didn't know where to ask this.

Sorry to intrude on your board, just wondering if anyone could give me more information on Rhys Waters?

Put up excellent numbers in the colts and performed well in a few of his handful of league appearances.

Thanks guys, muchly appreciated.

sorry, no idea, just wanna help by quoting this & maybe someone else can answer your question.
maybe I appreciate the politeness of your tone. anyway, hope u get an answer.

Would like to see us rookie another Tiger Jack Bradshaw

Im a fan of his as well.. something about him which makes me think he can make the higher level. Again his physical atttributes would have the be the main question, given his light frame.

One of those dreaded skinny flankers :o

News on Channel Seven that Freo are unlikely to pick up Chad Sandilands in the rookie draft because they do not believe he is ready for the AFL

I remember his brother not being ready for AFL either when we picked him
