Jesse White has made me do a 360.
He has turned me around.

He was terrific last night & he looks dangerous.
Especially when he is there without Tippett.

The problem with this I see is that he is now almost certainly pricing himself out of our league for a new contract, given our recent re-signings I'm not sure we will be able to get close to the offers that others will be able to give him.

contrary to what the other guy says.. spoke to a family member down here in melbourne last week who says he's likely to go to the bulldogs

The endless debates about this over the past few years have been really depressing. The absence of belief in him has been frustrating given that it coincided with a period where our midfield basically needed to be rebuilt.

He was often the scapegoat for poor games by our midfield. Anyway just happy with how he is going. I don't have a problem with him going now, the club hasn't really shown much belief in him - perhaps even now.

I can't criticise them by the way. What they have managed to do this season given all the injuries has been magnificent

On the negative side, he is apparently pricing himself out of the club through his fantastic form.

On the positive side, I doubt 2014 will be as ridiculously unlucky in terms of injury as this season has been. With Tippett and Reid and Goodes I don't think we need White to remain a premiership contender.

And another positive, hopefully his form creates a bidding war and we get a good return for him.

If you do a 360, you end up facing the same way you started.

Good point Vonn!

Ok then.........we better trade him.

No!

I should have mentioned that I wanted to keep him pre 2012 & did a 180. Now I have done another 180 (360 in total)

Does that make sense?

White for Heath Shaw and a swap of our first pick for the Pies second might be goer.

Might need the Pies to upgrade their second a couple of picks if they really want White and another club comes for him.

Happy for White to stay, I have been a long term fan of his potential and it is finally bearing fruit.

Seriously why do you want to give away our draft pick. Jesse is younger and a kpp.

Let the club work out its strategy, but I seriously can't work out why you would give them anything. If they want to get shaw out that is their decision and not ours.

Big fan of White here but the popular myth that the club hasn't shown belief in him is a load of tripe.

He's been given more opportunities than most and is now showing the consistency that we wanted. He's also been getting paid very well for what he's produced so far.

I love it when players show up the experts on here.

I still nod my head with massive embarrassment when i come across McHack nickname.

And White, the stupid egos on here as soon as he does something wrong and its just not worth talking about, the egos on here all start to get smug and tell you about it because they cant handle that they might just be wrong.

Jesse is a huge man and he is now at peak. How many times has it been proved that big men take a while to develop and yet players are suppose to be perak superstars at 20. This is the medias fault for conditioning footy fans at the start of the decade with youth is the only way to gp, so people expected 19 year olds to be ready made guns.

I love how Jesse now has the confidence to take on a defender.

The thing about Jesse was that he only ever showed glimpses. He'd kick a 50 metre goal, then in the very next passage of play have a complete brain fade. His decision making has been quite poor at times and there were always the question marks of whether he would ever have enough footy smarts to take advantage of his athleticism, and up until half way through 2013 he was more likely to be a failure than a success. I think most fans were willing to give him multiple opportunities and everyone was willing him to be a success, but time and time again he let himself, and the fans down.

He's become a good player and I'd like to see him in the red & white next year but I wouldn't be prepared to break the bank to keep him.

I'm not saying he hasn't had chances but I am saying that a lot of the chances come at the tail end of our 2005-6 midfield as they were slowing and playing poorly - see Barry hall reaction to our forward entries through 2007-2009 and then his scapegoating for some of our worse performances - usually on the back of Really poor performance from the midfield - the epitome of which was both the hawthorn game at the mcg in 2013 and the Richmond game in 2012 at the same venue.

I do recall hm stubbing his toe in the ground and costing us a goal in some game a few years ago which, tbh, he deserved to be dropped for - but was the sort of thing lrt did as well in his early years.

Arent you hoping the side loses to freo cos your worried about losing by too much in the grand final but having a go at anyone who wrote white off?

Whites good of late but first 50 games were largely crap

There are now times he really does show flashes of real class ... just needs to be more consistent. It seems, finally, that he's realised he's very athletic and discovered just what he can do on a football field. His skills by hand and foot are excellent and he's now making second and third efforts; he was really good in that department Saturday night.

Collingwood have made Jesse an offer and he has decided he wants to go to Collingwood so I doubt he will end up at Freo.

While Collingwood might have made an acceptable offer, it is not solely about Jesse wanting to go to Collingwood. He's not a free agent, so Sydney would need something in return. I'm sure if Jesse wants to go, the club will see what is offered.

But Jesse seemed willing to go to Adelaide last year, and interviewed with the Lions as well. So i don't think he'd have his heart set on a single club at this point. He'll set terms with his management, and see which clubs are willing to pay. Then Sydney will see what they can get out of the various suitors.

For what it's worth, my list of clubs in need/want of a player like Jesse (KPF or Fwd/Ruck):
Collingwood
Bulldogs
St Kilda
Freo
Port
Richmond
North (might be a year off. Need to replace Petrie, but i don't know how long he'll keep going).
Brisbane
Carlton

That's a lot of bargaining power should he be looking, and most of them have room to pay a decent salary (probably more than us, though we have had some significant de-listings).

So whites going to collingwood and we get the other shaw?

Hopefull the other shaw can bloody settle down. If him and Hanners get together and with their ADD it might be a match made in hell for the other players.

Another club that needs White is even more obvious...it's Sydney! I honestly don't understand why everyone thinks he's out the door, he's getting opportunities, he is performing (finally), he's young, quick, big, a great kick and injury free! Goodes isn't getting younger, neither is LRT, Sam Reid can't shake his leg without doing a quad, Morton's retiring so where's all the forward targets? Oh shit, I nearly forgot ROK, not hanging around too much longer either!
