Time to get a thread started on it as we are around 48 hours away from getting main draw action underway. The 2nd slam is about to begin with it's now usual Sunday start, and as always plenty of interesting storylines heading into the event:

Men's Contenders:

Odds from TAB

Rafael Nadal (ESP) - $1.75
Novak Djokovic (SRB) - $3.50
Roger Federer (SUI) - $9.00
Juan Martin Del Potro (ARG) - $21.00
Tomas Berdych (CZE) - $31.00
David Ferrer (ESP) - $31.00
Andy Murray (GBR) - $31.00

I would really say that only the top 3 are contenders but have to put a few more in to see who else is there. More analysis when the draw comes out tonight.

Aussies:

Tomic (25) vs Qualifier - Of course, we don't know who this will be so tough to predict but it will be a guy who can play on clay given they got through 3 matches, won't be easy, Giraldo/Falla in the 2nd. Won a tough match against Giraldo a few weeks ago so he can do it, and then Murray in the 3rd. Happy with this draw, winnable matches but they are still tough work so hopefully he brings his grand slam game. I actually think he'll make the 3rd round here, don't make me look silly Bernie.

Hewitt vs Klavic - I can't really predict this as no one knows how Hewitt is playing. He can win this if Hewitt is ready but just don't know. Hope he can get the win to play Djoko in the 2nd

Ebden vs Kohlischreiber - Ebden hasn't won a set this clay season. He's waiting for the grass season, next year he almost should do a Roddick and just turn up in Paris and lose, there is no point.

Women's Contenders:

Serena Williams - $3.25
Victoria Azarenka - $5.50
Maria Sharapova - $6.00
Na Li - $11.00
Sam Stosur - $11.00
Petra Kvitova - $12.00
Aga Radwanska - $16.00

As usual there are more actual comtenders on the women's side as it can come down to more factors. I would say that the winner should come out of that group though, more analysis when the draw comes out tonight.

Aussies:

Stosur vs Baltacha - I like her first two rounders, they should reallys ettle her into the tournament, no doubt she'll have fun with one of these first two matches but 3rd round should be no problem. Petrova is in the 3rd, always been a tricky player for Sam, was arguably lucky to get out of that match with her in New York. 4th round is either Cetkohska/Lisicki. Sabine has been a bogey player for Sam but has been injury issues lately which has led to poor form so it would be a surprise if she gets that far. If she does though, that's not a match Sam wants to see. Azarenka is waiting in the quarters who's had her injury concerns herself but I'm predicting this is where Sam's run will end here, hits it too hard and flat especially on the return for Sam

Rodinova vs Johansson - Local player who is nothing more than a journeywomen, winnable match, should be very close, played once a couple of years ago Rodinova won but that doesn't really matter coming into this one, could be on a televised court given it's a French women. Cetsoksvka waiting in the 2nd.

Dellacqua vs Errani - Ummm, no, Dellacqua on clay just doesn't work, Errani will annoy her to an easy straight set victory.

Gajdsova vs. Rybariokova - Jarka has been in terrible form, Rybarikova hasn't done much either this season so this is certainly a winnable first round. Wozinacki in the 2nd round.

Barty vs. Kvitova - I look forward to seeing how she deals with this but obivosuly this will go only one way. Kvitova might be in somewhat shaky form but she's no Dinara Safina (ala Rogowska's match at the US Open). very easy win for Petra.

TV Coverage:

All 15 Days are Live on Fox Sports, I think apart from a couple of hours on the first saturday night it will be all in HD. I'm assuming it will be the lame world feed again so there are always online alternatives if they are showing boring matches, wish Fox sports would start taking more serious measures of their coverage, really should be able to select different matches during their coverage or at least give us the option to it online but I digress. Nine will have highlights in the 2nd week if anyone cares.

Hope everybody enjos the feast of tennis which is Grand Slam tennis.

Marinko :(. He would be one of the top alternates with his ranking wouldn't he? I hope he doesn't miss out.
James Duckworth seems to have hit the skids a bit as well after looking good during the Aussie summer, think he lost immediately in qualifying as well.

Also I think we're gonna be waiting on Ash Barty and her cronies to be comming through on the ladies side of things as the few girls we had in didn't even take a set. The early 90's girls are a bit on the useless side of things unfortunately.

I can't wait. A plethora of contenders on the men's side should make this a fascinating tournament.

I think I've finally hit that low point where you look forward to watching the women more

Have been really busy and havent seen much of the clay court season so really looking foward to this.

I really dont like Fox Sports coverage of it though.

Pretty sure any spots now go to lucky losers, so he's no chance.

Yep, if he made it to the final round of qualies he would of had a great shot at getting in.

Draw's out, Fed is Novak's half, possible 2nd round matchup with Djoko-Hewitt, Tomic has a qualifier, Murray in the 3rd if he makes it, Stosur starts off alright but gets tough, is in Azarenka's quarter.

Doh, stuff that (if Sam even progresses that far). I dunno, we'll have to hope for a miracle.
Barty drew Kvitova lol.

If Bernie wins his first two matches, it seems he'll play Murray in the third.

Greg Jones has been knocked out of final round qualies as well.

Haider-Maurer for Tomic. Pretty kind draw for him. 3rd round achieveable and a free hit at the most susceptible of the top players if he can get there.

Cannot wait for this to start. Have been busy this week so really haven't had a look at the draw, will look at it today. Just hope for some great matches.

Nothing really stands out in the first round, Gilles Simon against Harrison could be interesting though. In the womens maybe Li Na against Cirstea. Sorana had a good run here a couple of years ago beating Woz and Jankovic.

What's the deal with coverage? Do we just get stuck with the Centre Court?

Probably, there are always other means to watch other courts though.

Nadal and Serena are what picks I got in my draw.

Stosur kicking things off on centre court tonight for the second time in a row.:thumbsu: Also on centre court tonight Del Potro, Tsonga and Venus. Pretty boring OOP for today. Rodionova and Casey also play tonight.

One match that could be very intresting in round 2 is Venus Vs Radwanska. I can see Venus and Ivanovic going on a run here. For the mens draw i have gone with Nadal def Djokovic in the final and S.Williams Def Azarenka in the womens.

Stosur through to the second round easily 6-4 6-0. Baltacha made a bit of a comeback in the end of the first set but Sam too good. Good start for her tournment.

Not bad from Sam, the match was always gonna be about her, and she sort of had a bit of a lull in that middle part of the third set (as usual never serving out a set), but it seems she really stepped it up a bit in the second. Will play the winner of Falconi/Gallovits-Hall, hopefully its the latter because she is a spud (now I've said that I know what will happen though :p)

Dellacqua playing after Cilic's match, which is in the second set.
Looks like Lleyton is playing tomorrow.

RG is going to **** with my uni assignments though, same thing happened during USO last year, I am a stooge.
