Nat Fyfe's last game at optus. A piece of Fremantle history will be witnessed tonight.

Will we be the first team to beat Gold Coast in a final or the first to lose...either way it should be an absolute belter of a game.

I went for a nice, warm afternoon walk and to my dismay had a red wattle bird fly into the side of my head (pretty hard), which has never happened to me in my life. My while my head is pretty bloody sore, and (wait a minute, I'm going somewhere with this) I've soldiered on through the day with a long list of daily errands.

So my question is, is this an omen? If so what? I'd say it means that our battler in the middle, known to play with many hard knocks and that has persevered with a characteristic bandage around his head is going to dominate the middle - Caleb is going have a blinder today maayyyte. He'll be on my multi with 30+ possessions.

The other possible omen is that I might have a brain aneurysm watching the game tonight.

I haven't been online much the past two weeks for family health reasons, so this will have to be the pinnacle of my contribution to the board for a bit.

Time to see what this group is made of.

The general theme of this finals series so far being one team starting red hot and aggressive in their attack on the footy and the other team struggling to withstand the pressure, which sets the tone for the rest of the game. Hopefully tonight we are the former because too many times in the past we’ve been the latter.

If even half of our star players can stand up and have a good performance we will go okay. The one I’m looking at is Bolton, he’s flirted with greatness all year and I want to see him go to another level this finals series.

If we lose tonight it won’t be due to a lack of talent, rather a mentality issue - mindset, attitude or an inability to handle the occasion.

Tonight is the first step in our premiership assault. It won’t be easy but it’ll be worth it. Let’s do this.
