Noticed that quite often, Michael Beer's front foot doesn't land flat on the front foot, but only on the ball of his foot. No part of the foot actually touches behind the line. It would be behind the line if it landed flat, but a lot of the time it doesn't.

Is this a no-ball?

no.

the rule is that they draw an imaginary line from the raised heel down apparently. So if its raised and on or behind its fine IIRC.

he missed out being legal yesterday by only a few mm.:(

Why doesnt the 3rd umpire call all no balls from a live feed of the side on close up. Hes not doing anything and could just have a light go off when he presses a button. Its not like batsman change their shots when they hear the call these days.

I was thinking that myself furn.

I think eventually the umpires call will be replaced completely by the third umpire alone adjudicating on no balls in a pure electronic manner.

Thanks guys.

2nd question - back foot this time.

Shane Warne around the wicket, regularly planted his back foot outside the pitch lines, yet was never called for a no ball. Why?

(this isn't a test, genuinely interested)

Probably because the umpire wasn't looking for it. If you land on, or over the return crease with your back foot it's a no-ball.
