C.Johns, should have mentioned his name i guess

I am pretty sure everyone knows i am massive fan of Johns. and would be a good option to play at FF. Very quick over 20-30ms and has a good set of hands. Not sure he has the Accuracy to kick a bag but would provide a good option. Provide us with a target and get the likes of MJ, Gus, JJ at his feet kicking good Front and Centre goals.

At the Dome this week, I'd put Lovett in the goal square and give him as much space as possible.

i was thinking the same thing although i'd have laycock as the stay at home FF, let Lovett lead up to the ball and then be at laycock's feet if they go long to the big fella.

johns... i dunno if he is just an unlucky kid.. im sure he would provide a great option but can everyone bite there lip over how much damage hed do infront the goals, provide big option etc... till he plays 5 afl game then we will no if he can cut it and what sort of impact he would have on the game

In his games he has played this year pre-season i understand but kicked a souple of goals. And he would provide a big option.
194cm and 92kg is a big target either way you look at.. and as i said before quick over 20-30m really hard to match up on.. VERY big Target

When he got 5 on Anzac Day, a few of them were from good leads, maybe Lovett could do this.

Lovett did it against Fremantle at the Dome last year.

He had 5 shots at goal from memory in the 2nd half last week. As well as the slip and the set-up for the Watson goal. All while playing from FF.

Is Johns still injured?

Its strange that he was named a couple of weeks ago, didn't play, and hasn't been heard about since. Anyone have any news on the boy?

He broke a rib in the VFL a couple of weeks back, that's what kept him out of the Richmond game. Although I doubt he was ever going to play.

He's fit to play this week.

You're right, we'd have to realy clear out the F50 and give him a lot of space.

Would Laycock become more of a CHF or just let him back up Hille? He could probably go to the goalsquare if Lovett wasn't doing a lot.

Wrong week to play Courtney.
Glass is just about the best full back in the league at the moment.

Yeah I wouldn't play him either. Not until he's had four weeks in a row in the VFL.

But I guess if he was to play, all we'd really want for him would be to break a couple of packs and bring the ball to ground level.

Cheers longy. Once again you prove yourself to be a font of knowledge.

As has been mentioned, don't know if it would be the best idea to play him this week on one of the best full backs going around. I liked Lovett up front last weekend. Those two bananas in the last quarter were pure magic and give a glimpse as to how he can influence a game. Although he did seem to be a little glum over the course of the match. Is he still having problems outside of footy?

Glass will be counting his stars he doesn't have to play on Lloyd, even though he usually does a pretty good job.

If Lovett is played from the square, Chick might get the job.
Glass also might be a bit overwhelmed by the height of Laycock, although, he hasn't had any real trouble with height in the past.

My concern with having a small forward line (ie Lovett in the forward 50) is that our midfielders are going to be under pressure kicking it forward (due to the excellent West coast midfield) and therefore a small forward is not going to get the pin point passes that they need to be effective... (especially given that our major ball winners don't have the best disposals either).

this problem will be compounded by Wirrapunda playing loose in defence. I have a feeling that this guy will have a field day this weekend.

At least if we play a tall, pack breaking player like Johns he will hopefully be able to bring the ball to ground and should be able to make more of a contest if the ball isn't delivered perfectly...

that is when Lovett will strike. Lucas isn't the pack breaking type really (averages 0.6 contested marks per week), he works better when he has room to more and can also give us long and quick delivery into the square.

Hille may be able to play that pack breaking role too, but he doesn't really have the closing speed to make enough contests.. Lets face it we miss Lloyd. Lloyd not only can take contested grabs but runs into packs and brings the ball to ground - he is very rarely out marked and that is a big bonus in a forward. Something that we just don't have at the moment.

The Bulldogs small forward line works well because they have excellent skills through their midfield, I don't think we can match them there....

Great point i feel. I think Laycock cant play as a Pack breaking FF, Maybe play Laycock from the goal square and Johns as the leading full forward with lovett, monfries, MJ, JJ Stanton all running through for the F&C. Johns i think could hold a few pack marks and if he doesn't hold 'em bring em to ground

who will c.johns be playing on against port if he is ff? he needs 2 play on a crap full bak and see how he does.
