Blue and Silver
Brownlow Medallist
The idea is to project what our best 22 will look like in 3-4 years.
For this exercise I am assuming the following players will no longer be playing for the Blues:
Andrew Carazzo (age 30 in 2014 turns 31 in December but I won't count it)
Probably will be past it. His fitness is what makes him valuable, when he starts to lose this he will be less and less of an asset.
Brad Fisher (age 30 in 2014)
A player who will be struggling having never really realized his full potential. Will be hard pressed to keep his spot
Richard Hadley (age 31 in 2014)
Same story as Fisher, hasn't really sealed a place this year and will be up against it to do so this year let alone in 2014.
Ryan Houlihan (age 32 in 2014)
Is under scrutiny now for his performances, will probably be past it
Setanta O'Halpin (age 31 in 2014)
Really is the same story as most of these guys. Not exceptionally talented, has injury concerns, age will catch up.
Heath Scotland (age 33-4 in 2014)
The age says it all
Bret Thornton (age 30 in 2014 will be 31 in late 2014)
Will slowly be pressed from the side, age will catch up
Simon Wiggins (age 32 in 2014)
Another struggling to make the seniors this year, will probably be seen enough.
Maybes:
Chris Judd (age 31 in 2014)
Is a champion, may still be valuable
Kade Simpson (age 30 in 2014)
Is the sort of gut-running players that could be shifted to the forward line and still have an impact
Jarrad Waite (age 31 in 2014)
Injury concerns may shorten his career but could still be playing well
Under the assumption that these players are ruled out the following is my best 22 based on players currently on the list and the inclusion of F/S Selection Dylan Buckley
B: Davies Jamison Bower
HB: Russell Austin O'Keefe
C: Lucas Mclean Buckley
HF: Yarran Henderson Robinson
F: Betts Casboult Gartlett
R: Kreuzer Gibbs Murphy
I/C: Hampson, Grigg, Kerr, Walker.
For objectivity I have left out the maybes.
Personally form what I can tell we will probably need to draft a KPF as cover in this years draft (yes I did support drafting midfielders recently but now we definitely need to look at a tall)
For what it is worth this thread is, more than anything else, really just looking at our youth and deciding who are our best prospects
