I'm giving myself an uppercut typing this but I think you're right. Their 2 picks plus ours gives us 3 top ten picks . If we got the picks right it would set us up for years. Danger leaving the Crows has not affected them one iota.

It isn't just the picks either. We would also have $1.5 million to put in front of some out of contract targets such as Grundy, JJ, Lever and/or Hopper.

Would still be the best deal available you would think, regardless of which club. Alternatively 2017 1st + 2018 1st.

We're jumping at shadows here; the news came from a breakfast radio show host, not a journo, who can't put a name to his source and the agreement can't legally be signed, so nothing is official.

That would all be part of the dealing though wouldn't it?? If the picks slide then obviously we would be looking at adding something in terms of players coming to us as well as the picks. If they were both top 5/6 then one could argue that those picks would suffice.

Especially given $1.5m a year isnt so far over the money you'd assume we'd be offering. Clearly you wouldn't go to St Kilda for the success. If it was $2m a year I'd be more inclined to take it seriously.

confirming Fyfe to Saints would top off a super week, but if it were true and the paperwork is all but signed, then Fyfe would have taken on the Freo captaincy only weeks before, or even after negotiations began for the proposed deal. That seems odd to me, or it says a lot about the person...but from what I have seen so far of Fyfe (I don't know him personally), I would have to assume the former until shown proof to the contrary.

It's either made up or price signalling. Not actually about going to the Saints which is laughable. Why would you sign for a small club for an extra 100, 200, 300 grand a year when it would cost you two or three times that in lost 'brand' value.

B) I couldn't think of a single reason a radio personality would want to stir the pot to get a bit of attention for themselves. Brad Fitzgerald is a considerably humble guy who doesn't spend most of his time looking at himself in the mirror and thinking about how famous he is. He is clearly on the level and not making this up just to give himself a quick ratings spike.

C) The Saints?!? I get that they have the trade currency and probably the cap space which might satisfy the technicalities of a trade but what on Earth do they have to offer Fyfe that he'd actually want? Lifestyle? - um, no. A big Vic club? - um, no. Bigger crowds to play in front of? - um, no. Better chance of a premiership? - um, no. A better coach - um, no. A more financially sound club? - um, no. Better training facilities? - um, no. Closer to family and friends? - um, no. More free kicks? - possibly.

It makes no sense so please don't fall into believing this kind of rubbish. The only thing you can believe is what Fyfe and his management have said. Which is, they aren't negotiating yet but when they do they'll be speaking to Freo first. It will likely be mid season at the earliest.

the west saying they contacted F7's management and it is incorrect or baseless or something to that effect. I guess we won't know regardless until he actually signs (I expect this will still happen as planned once the CBA deal is signed and they know how the salary cap has been adjusted by the AFL, and Fyfe's management work out a deal that is appropriate for a top 5 player in the AFL - to sign beforehand would be just plain stupid for someone in fyfe's position)
