At the home games ive seen hes always clutching his hammy or his shoulder or hes wincing in pain behind play. Mentally hes definitely down a few notches to he doesnt hunt the ball AS much. Still brutal but not as much.

trading only happens if Fremantle matches a rival bid.
If they don't he goes for nothing and Fremantle will get a compensation pick off the AFL.
Usually the next pick after your 1st.

So if some fool team offers Fyfe 1.2 million over X years, if you don't match, he goes to that club and you get compo pick.
Match the bid, and a trade has to take place.
Adelaide never matched Geelong for Dangerfield. The whole thing never even involved FA.

Every team plays players carrying something.

Would you have denied Lachie Neale last season because he was injured early and carried three niggles until the end?

Lachie Neale was still playing good footy, S Hill and Fyfe are struggling. If an extra week off will get them close to 100%, then it is in everyone's interest to rest them.

Looked to me as if he was wearing a chest guard yesterday. Carrying broken ribs?

There was that incident against Collingwood where he was grimacing and clutching his chest on the wing near the interchange area. At the time I thought he was just winded.

I would rather Fyfe took the time he needs to heal from his injury than force himself to play like half the player he is, which must be incredibly demoralising for him. What's the worst that could happen? We win fewer games, get an earlier draft pick, with a better chance to snag a top quality KPF. That's fine by me.

Is playing him fwd more an option just to take some of the weight off him from being the man in the middle doing the grunt work

Try and get his mark and goal game a bit more on point and give him a bit more freedom

Would open the door for someone else to get some more midfield minutes as well. Maybe let Blakely do his thing and let someone else take the run with role?

Silver lining to his down form (injury or otherwise) is that we might be able to keep him for a cheaper contract. I think he signs for something like $5 million over 5 years.

There was a lot of talk about his back giving him grief early last year. Don't hear about it much anymore..

Worth mentioning...

Maybe some of the vitriol he's been subject too (admittedly typically in emotion-charged gameday threads) may just be a little unfounded?
I think it was obvious for everyone to see that he was playing injured. Shows what a great captain he is playing with a significant injury to try and get wins on the board, although, I would have preferred he got his body right so he's not out longer than he needs to be. Hopefully he re-signs soon.

That's also only what Doghorn has found out.
I've been thinking cracked ribs but whatever it doesn't matter he's clearly been struggling for air.
Gutsy as always.
Hope the break is enough for it to heal.

Give him an extra week. We should forfeit the Geelong game.

One year Pav had a double shoulder recon at the end of the year. Top players carry stuff all the time - though playing with a bruised chest would be bloody tough. Noticed Fyfe grimacing in pain quite a bit this year though he was spent but sounds like it was the injury.

He is a tough nut playing with that kind of injury

You will probably find that he is playing at his own request. Provided there is no risk of aggravating existing injuries or further injury there is no problem with this, he is doing his recovery on the fly and probably wants as much game time as possible to make up for last year.

He is doing what a great captain does, it's a pity some of the other squibs didn't have the heart he has.
