When fyfe was being interviewed by jacko, they got onto the topic of fyfe's height as of now.when fyfe was drafted I think he was 186cm now fyfe is 190cm.if nat grows another 3 to 4cm this year, I believe he will be tall enough to become the freo's replacement for pav and some.fyfe in 3 to 4 years will be the most dominant key forward in the AFL, assuming he grows another 3 to 4cm.thoughts

Fyfe wont be doing any more growing. He's nearly 20 now, so that's about it for him.

I think late growers might have a bigger burst than those who grow younger, but 19-20 is pretty much fully grown for most men. He'll definitely fill out a hell of alot though I reckon. Would love another 2 inches (wouldn't we all, wives included!), but I think we'd be well lucky for that.

CHF is crazy talk. Midfield/HFF role similar to Hird is what he should be aiming for. It seems the club feel the same.

190cm is not exactly huge. He's hardly built like a beast so i think a key position is not his calling.

If something similar was said about Morabito i could understand but Fyfe isn't that sort of player.
 
Pretty much everybody is around 190cm these days.

And no Fyfe is not a key position player and never will be.
 
Lets just have more Fyfe love. His marking is sublime and plucks them from anywhere. Very very few players can mark like that in todays game.
 
You could easilly tell he was taller than 186cm's. Like someone said it does mean he still has to fill out more. But imagine when he has another 7 or 8 Kg's added to his frame. If this year is Fyfe's peak and he stayed like this for the rest of his career I would be happy. His potential is limitless

When does his contract run out?
 
Well if fyfe has stopped growing ,he is the perfect height for a modern day mid.I sure am hoping he gets to the 194cm.he will fill out ,.at least to 95kg you would hope.would be interesting to know what heights mundy,Barlow & pav were at the same age.

Loved what Healy said during the telecast "Last year Freo were worried he (Fyfe) was too small to play AFL, well he looks like he's put on about 1/2 kilo and he's dominating the competition".

I have to say the ignorance of the general footy public is shocking at times. There was a group behind me yesterday who were calling him a hack and jeering every time he got the ball saying he's a clanger king. I tried to explain the philosophy of high risk high reward decision making but they just kept saying he's overrated.

Indeed, and that's the most important factor in being a target.

If you can take a mark, the football field is your oyster.

Dont get me wrong i rate the kid. Think he's one of the best young mids in the comp but his disposal could be improved (DE's at 58%). He did have 6 clangers on the weekend so calling him a clanger king isn't completely without merit.
He is clearly not a hack though they were probably just muppets and i completely agree the lack of knowledge by most "supporters" frustrates the hell out of me sometimes aswell.

Um for gods sake the guy is only turning 20 this year. He is actually a good kick but because he gathers the ball under extreme pressure it is only natural for some kicks to miss the target. When your averaging 26 + touche a game it's easier to spray a few.

This goes over the heads of a lot of casual followers of the game. It is demonstrated by statements like "just kick the bloody thing", "oh noes don't go backwards". You don't win by taking the safe, easy options all the time.
 
How tall is Pav?? 2 cms aint a hell of a difference when you can mark like this man can and he may even have a few more cms in him. Anyway ff would be pigeonholing him given his potential. Although you could swing him forward for parts of the game and he could end up with 4+ easily.
 
I wouldnt mind seeing him put on a few more kgs an be a N Riewoldt type player.
He is a sensational mark.
Would provide a wonderful target for us up forward.
Midfielders streaming through the middle Pav leads 1 way, Fyfe leads the other 2 very good forward targets with Mayne an Keps providing deeper options.

We will then have a gun forwardline,good backline an good midfield.
In a year or 2 we could have a great midfield.
He has been doing great in midfield an despite his light frame still goes in nice an hard without fear.
I just think he offers so much up forward an used in a Hird/Nriewoldt type role will be where he is most valueable.
Let him go up the ground an get involved but tell him he needs to stick to the attacking half of the ground.

Hes such a great mark hes taken over the Sandilands role of being the target on long kickins.
