Games played in 2008.

A lot of people are complaining about limited games to Armitage / Birss.

I think if anyone was stiffed it was Ferguson and Rix. But to be fair both of these players have had ample opportunity to make their mark on the game.

It remains a discussion point whether Birss may have been a better selection in some of the games where Fiora or Gardiner were played, ( including the prelim) but at the same time we have seen enough of him to know he is not a great match winner, at best a reliable trier.

In his first proper season as a player David Armitage along with Robert Eddy enjoyed more games than any of the other fringe players or young recruits.

I consider that :
Any player that gets de-listed has had adequate chances to prove himself.
Young players playing consistently well in the VFL have been rewarded with AFL games.
I consider that the club has done a reasonable job of giving experience to young players , and chances to fringe players, without sacrificing the integrity of the team.
I expect to see more of Macca and Steven and maybe Miles next year.
Something from Howard would be good too.

To me it says that if the Saints decide to pay out his contract and delist him, he cannot claim not to have had every opportunity to impress.

McEvoy is the one I want to be seeing more of.
We need a quality ruck man. It cant be denied that King and especially Gardiner are in the twilight of their careers.
It's been scarce pickings for a solid ruckman since Spida went to Kings Cross.

I tend to agree, but the problem is Macca is not yet big enough to be competitive in the ruck. Watching him against Sandilands was like watching Milne trying to outmark Jonothan Brown. I reckon he should be brought in, as soon as round 1 if he has a good nab cup, as a third tall forward option with gradually increasing spells in the ruck over time. That way he can at least adjust to the highest level whilst developing.

Yaha, do a Kosi with McEvoy should do alright i reckon. He won't get killed unless he's up against the premier ruckmen of the comp, surely he'd get some taps against a Cameron Cloke or something. It'll give him valuable game time and experience in the ruck. Kingy not likely to have another season like this one, so important we don't run him to the ground. He should get more rest with Macca and Kosi rotating in ruck/forward line

Judging McEvoy on debut against the biggest ****er to ever play the game probably isn't the greatest thing to do.

He got pwned, true. But who wouldn't? Plus he took a couple good contested grabs. But I agree I dont think he'll do much next year.

Agree 100%. Surely he has to be delisted right? If he gets another game, we have no chance of a flag - or even a decent flagshot in '09.

You can add Clinton Jones to that as well, try as he might - what was the last Premiership team he would have got a game for? I can't think of any.
