Gary Ablett Snr interview coming up on 3AW

I was about to start a thread on this purely based on Caroline Wilson's comment on the great man but saw this thread at the last second.

What a heartless BITCH that woman is. I know she is in the media and no doubt doing her job but I can't imagine her not being the same type of person away from her job. She is just cold.

Her comment about Ablett being sad and deluded. It was only the fact that I would've been waiting for the standard 15 or so minutes before I maybe got on air that I didn't ring up and abuse the slag!

I know she has a right to her own opinion but to kick someone when they're down, especially when he's given so much to the game, is just spineless!!

I laughed my head off when the last caller's final comments were something like "as for Caroline saying what she did, her comments don't count as no one cares about her." Then the bitch says again that the great man is sad and deluded.

She lacks respect (a common downfall of people in the media), integrity and has absolutely no credibility.

There's only one other person in the media that sh|ts me as much as this bird and that's Mike Sheahan.

Caro's opinion angered me...she is making it out as if the young girl who died because of a drug overdose was completly innocent.

It takes two to tango...she chose to take drugs.

if it had been booze that she'd consumed too much of would you think differently?

no, there's no difference whether it was booze or drugs or whatever that she'd had too much of. he left her when she needed someone to call an ambulance. major mistake in my book.

he was a great player, you can't take that away from him. but leaving her for dead wasn't the nicest thing to do in the world.

No doubt he made a mistake, and I'm not condoning what he did.

But the girl had some responsibility and played a part...

What exactly does Wilson (and detractors in general) want from Ablett?

He is a broken shell of a man, penniless, suffering from depression and unable to show his face in public.
Hardly living the high life.

It is not eye for an eye, but the man is clearly paying for his mistakes.

Pretty good point....

No it wasn't and he said several times that he regrets what occurred.

Not singling you out dart but what does the guy have to do??!! He is sorry about it! He can't turn back time and do it all again can he so build a bridge!!

Even though he (Bruns) is alive and well today, Matthews is not coping any criticism for his gutless behind the play assault on him is he?

just like a pedestrian lying stricken in a hit & run accident plays a part in the accident?

it's all about not stopping to help someone in need.

PICK UP THE PHONE DIAL 000?!?!

. . . he must have been messed up proper not to realise that's all he had to do.

i'm not saying he should still be copping abuse for it in the media & so on, he probably thinks about his mistake(s) at least once a day, it would seriously haunt him.

but your inference that somehow cause it was to do with drugs means that she's less deserving of the compassion and help of strangers or otherwise is really quite sad.

Did anyone notice the headline in last nights Ch 9 news? What was suppose to be a good story about Abletts saying thanks to geelong they had to get all petty and use "Thanks for Nothing" headline.

I don't know much of the story, but would it be safe to say that Ch 9 did offer him some money for the footage, not as much as Fat Ed mob were hoping and when they didn't get their way they went out of their way to publicly humiliate him in this way?

Why does the media try to take a moral high ground when it comes to Garry Ablett Snr?

Dart, where did chapmanmagic35 suggest the girl was less deserving of compassion???

As I read it he simply stated the fact that she was an adult and was taking drugs and therefore must bear some responsibility of of the risks associated with drug taking.

it was actually you i guess that i was disagreeing with in the first place.

you posted: "she chose to take drugs"

i guess i took from that "served her right, she chose to take drugs"

if you didn't mean it like that. i'll dismount my high horse now.

All this talk about whether or not the girl was responsible for herself is irrelevant!! Sure it's a talking point but it's happened!! It's in the past!! He can't change what happened even though we're all 110% sure he'd love to change what happened.

The guy is paying for his mistakes big time and it's undignified squats like Caroline Wilson who are relishing at the opportunity to get attention. Again, it's a classic case of the media showing their true colors in terms of having absolutely no credibility!!

Take a look at my posts, I never said anything of the sort.

or not having any real stories to put in the papers.

I did agree with Gazza about if someone films/photographs him, the media would pay big $$$ for the footage yet when he tries to sell it to them, they suddenly develop moral issues.

Channel Nine didn't take the high moral ground. I tried to negotiate a lower price. It didn't want to pay that much, that's all.

How about an apology for a start?

To my knowledge, Ablett has offered absolutely nothing by way of an apology to the young girl's family, surely the first thing any decent human being would do. The family who's young daughter would probably still be alive had Ablett made a simple (and anonymous even) phone call, and placed the value of her life above a potentially trivial possession & useage charge/ negative press.

As for the "broken shell of a man, penniless...", I'll save my sympathy for the Horan family thanks.
