I have read one report that he didn't train and will be having surgery so I guess it'll probably be wait until October and see what is happening.
Yep, didn't train, season over. Surgery booked in.

So now who......McGuane has to be the one surely with no Chubba and Moore still either. Unless they think Jackson can play on a small forward?
jackson did a hammy a couple of weeks ago. Might give my boots a clean and take them along...

Surgery for Gaspar1:53:01 PM Wed 2 August, 2006Jason PhelanWounded Tiger Darren Gaspar has lost his fight against a knee ailment and will go under the surgeon's knife later this week the club announced on Wednesday.

The full back suffered the injury - described as pinched cartilage in the right knee - in the round 16 loss to Sydney - and news of the arthroscopic surgery means it is unlikely that he will take any further part in Richmond's 2006 campaign.

With five matches left in the home-and-away season and finals unlikely for the club, time is against the veteran backman, but football operations manager Paul Armstrong wasn't completely closing the door.

"They'll operate on that to remove what hindrances there are and then once they do that they'll know just how long he'll miss," Armstrong said.

"It'll depend; if it's simple there may be some opportunity to get back prior to the end of the year, but if it's more complicated than that we obviously haven't got far to go and he'll miss the remainder of the season."

The two-time All-Australian has played 223 career matches, but has managed just eight this season through a mixture of form and injury issues.

All hope of managing the injury through until the end of the season was extinguished when Gaspar failed to negotiate a training session at Punt Road on Wednesday morning.

The 30-year-old's contract expires at the end of the season.

Not so sure he'll go around again yet ID. Club silent on any talk of re-signing Gaspar. Mal Michael unhappy in Brisbane. Is that the pitter patter of Greg Miller sneaking around that I hear?

I bloody hope so!! Not sure what we'd have to give to get him but he'd be brilliant.

He'd be great in the short term no doubt, but he is no spring chicken. Only a few months younger than aka. So at best we'd get 2-3 years out of him.

I reckon a total rebuild of our defence with a real view to the future is in order. And surely we can recruit a half decent back capable of playing on the power forwards of the comp.

Been giving MM a good spruik on here for a while Crum. :thumbsu:

There`s one for you GM ....

A deal that would involve getting both Aker and M Michael to Punt rd.

That would be something to hang your hat on .

Any theories anyone ?

Give them Mc Guane , Gaspar and our second pick for those two :thumbsu:

you have been to IDY, if it were only that simple it would be tempting ....me thinks thered need to be 2 and 3 R pick at least thrown in to balance negotiations...MM would prob be worth the investment given at least 3 yrs left in him Im not sold on aker sole reason he is 30...If 27 then Id say go for it....Too large investment for someone with limited time left in game and would really make me question have RFC not learnt anything over the years:confused:
