Geelong – most loved to most disliked?

The fact the umpires seemed to come into the game with this pre-conceived notion of how it was going to play out, and sought to "stamp" out something that wasn't there.

Made for a shocking first half of football.

Plus once again the Cats' key players have been found out as precious douchebags, divers and duckers. Makes them completely unlikeable. Almost miss the way they used to play, are now a shadow of what they once were.

Don't get me wrong he is but for some reason i just love how he goes about doing it. Totally understand te dislike though.

Selwood's constant ducking for free's is a joke but get's applauded by the commentators as being courageous.

Have been a dirty team even in their glory years. Likewise have played for free kicks. The thing is, they have also been an excellent team, so the media and a lot of fans give them a free pass.

It would be great if they could cut the dirty play and diving/ducking out of their game.

I reckon most of the frees paid were there, even as a Cats fan. The last quarter in the end the whistle was put away to some extent (although i wasn't sure what the free let alone 50 was for on the wing in that last Q). We were very lucky to win, but i don't think the umpiring was the difference between winning and losing. What it does say is that Lyon's footy, and Freo really have Geelong's measure...as i thought Geelong looked the dominant side for much of the game. But Freo's eclectic way of snaffling goals from their slingshot forays forward always had us under huge pressure.

Will be so looking forward to next week's game, the GF rematch in Perth. Hawthorn has been the kryptonite to Freo's style of footy, and Freo's belief level against the Hawks will not be anything like it is against Geelong. Will be a match for the ages, seriously a battle of the two mains schools of the game. And maybe odd for me to say, but i would like to see the Hawks prevail, if for no other reason to put another notch on the belt of positive, open footy.

They were suppose to go past us a few years ago, hasn't happened and now we've almost completed a mini re-build and still sitting comfortably ahead of them.
The anger has reached boiling point while Hawthorn people are simply obsessed with all our success this over the decade.

Comical. Its not a rebuild when your still one of the oldest lists. Pretty sure Rivers and Mcintosh wouldn't of been recruited if you didn't think you could win it.

I still like Geelong. Would go for them above pretty much everybody but Carlton and maybe Gold Coast, simply because they are freak team full of class, and probably the main team that made football worth watching the past 7 years.

Having said that, I will probably hate them Friday night as I did last time when they squeaked out a fortunate win against us.

It's tall poppy for me. I'm sick of seeing the same team/s do well, which is why I'll be getting behind Freo again this finals series. Steve Johnson makes disliking Geelong very easy though.

Agree. We are very vulnerable to their style even when dominating the game at times. I want to avoid Freo.

Hawks are opposite and have their measure. Next week will be interesting. I suspect hawks may cut them open
