Nathan Ablett has taken another strange move in his early career by insisting that his close mate from Moddewarre be rookie listed. The request was made to Mark Thompson and it is feared that thompsons love for Ablett will waste Geelong a rookie list spot.

The nominated player is a fellow moddewarre teamates by the name of Brendan Harvey who is believed to be just a middle tear player at that club in the Bellerine Football League. He is understood to be lightweight and it is poised to be one of the most contreversal pickings in AFL history.

The source is the MFC and a certain Geelong player from that particular area.

The source cant be named but if you know local football you should know the local link between modda and geelong. The exact source let it out 4 weeks before nathans' signing that he was nominating for the draft.

As much as it sounds like bullsh@# it is true. The player, Harvey has never played senior footy. modda have had a few play seniors in the season just gone so it is unbelieveable that geelong are considering this move.

I hope for the Cat's sake, Nathan comes off eventually. It seems a long way off though. Rookie list spots aren't given away at AFL level though, i can't imagine Ablett pulling enough clout to demand anything, let alone that.

the only link between modda and geelong is the fact that gary ablett played there as a junior, so is he the source? this will not happen and when it doesnt you will look silly. there is no way a modda u/18 player is near good enough for an afl rookie spot.

Eh, it's not so big a deal. Patrick Ewing had the New York Knicks sign an absolute chump by the name of David Wingate that was a very good friend of his for a few years during the 90's. Sometimes, you just want to have your mates around. Ben Kinnear was kept at Collingwood for such a long time because he was a good friend of Chris Tarrant's, no doubt in my mind about that...

I played a season of senior footy with Modewarre about five years ago, and played alongside Bolts. He's certainly a hard man and I wouldn't have liked to have been his opponent.

do you remember him having to go to court for belting a guy when he wasnt looking and broke his jaw. then the same thing happened to him and he wasnt happy. but i will admit he was an ok player for his age.

David Bolton is a great man and i would beleive anything he would say although he is not the source.

K-Rock has been using this story in its sport updates for god knows how long and i have heard ba bit of it on Bay fm

I dont personally believ it as it has been nowhere in the geelong advertiser or on the news.

I agree that I really don't think that Nathan would be able to pull strings like that. He is a first year player and is so far living only on potential. The club administration is too smart to go for something like this.

i went to geelong rookie trials today and i cant believe it harvey was there. He seemd small unfit and looked out of place. His skills were second to none though.

if you dont believ me i can name every other player there. there was about 30 of us. Only 2 will be picked. And i can tell you it prob wont be harvey.
