This is the sort of game north will come out for firing and getting all physical with that intense underdog pep talk behind doors a lot of clubs do, and we will be a bit flat.

Can see it coming a mile away… will do just enough probably to get over the line. Will be somewhere between 4-8 goals in the end.

Will be a boring just bank the points week of footy.

Considering we've got Melbourne and Carlton to follow, a slow, low-energy game where they just do enough is fine by me.

I’ll take boring.
Percentage will be more crucial than ever for top 4
Maybe. But last time Geelong themselves got bored in the last quarter and gave up a bunch of %. If they go in full strength and are ahead I reckon they will rest players in 4th qtr given they play Melbourne in 5 days time - and won’t be % booster anyway. Most important way to get top 4 is to beat teams like melbourne and Carlton over the following 2 weeks. That will take smart player management. IMHO

Yeah I think this game will play out the same way as the Carlton game at KP back in 2018.

Id like to see Atkins repeat in the midfield to get ready for the tougher teams coming up - he makes a Richmond like difference to the scrap and grit in our midfield, which I love. Think we should bite the bullet on Miers - he is a good runner and tackler, but his disposal is poor and worse under pressure. Will not cut it against Melb/Carlton/Freo/Brissie pressure. Can kick a goal, but only if its within 35 metres. Close and Stengle are locks. Also, may be unpopular on here, but I think Zac G has to stay in the team.

No Zuthrie is a lock for at least the next month. He was good against the tigers.

How did Narkle go in the twos?

Did some good, especially from an offensive perspective - nice goal in the third when roved a ruck contest in our forward 50

Then there was the frustration from a defensive perspective when he went missing - if there was a better balance shown when that defensive pressure & running is needed, it would be good

I’m interested to know - are you confident for this one? Do you think we will win?
I went to the Tigers game- that shows a bit.
Not confident like some here- suggesting a coach - kill game. Never really confident. Not tipping or expecting the upset, but how we get over the hard game, and losing Stewart will be interesting. 6 in a row?
All I feel is , if we don't win this, we are the team to go out of the 8 for Tigers.
As it stands right now, I expect a Demons Tigers GF, but they are not even in the 8. The real question is, which current top 8 team goes out for them?

Does he need to go down one more level? VAFA?

It's annoying that the West Coast game is the last game of the season, as that's the other remaining easier game in fixture list that we'd ideally be able to rest players for. The fact that there's a bye week right afterwards though makes resting players in that game counterproductive.
West Coast has been getting progressively better since the bye, We should still beat them but they aint North Melbourne and we will need to take them seriously (unless we are two games clear on top or something else equally improbable)

I reckon we're going to see Dempsey again this weekend.

Hope so- I want to see as much game time pushed into that little freak as possible(A few games this year while he builds muscle/tank/gameplan understanding). Could be anything. Pretty sure he's got the most potential of our under 22's(including SDK)

I just want Neale to get 1 more game this year, and think this game will be his last chance this year
Looked like he had a strong game in the vfl from the highlights.

The issue for him is he really only gets an opportunity if one of Hawkins or Cameron are out. That's not going to change any time soon.

Whether he plays again in the seniors this year, like most here, I just hope we retain him because he looks like a real talent for the future.

It may be that, like with SDK, he gets his chance next year after adding a bit of bulk in the off-season and can really be relied upon to play that forward-ruck option.

Kolo is a conundrum - does some things extremely well but really hasn't eradicated errors coming from poor execution and decision making.
I think he's as good as he will be now and the equation becomes does the good outweigh the bad?
The really good ones know what they are going to do before they take possession - look at Stengle/Close and even a newbie like SDK - Kolo will never be that.

Could throw Close in there as well, a sub fifty gamer who has it all over Kolodjashnij in terms of footy IQ (well most of the team does to be honest)
Negates his direct opponent more often then not, but heck, your hearts in your mouth whenever he has the ball; I'd like to find a stat that shows how many goals he's cost us over the journey.

It's a good question you pose, does the good outweigh the bad, I guess in the eyes of the MC the answer is yes, guess opinion would be much more divided among the fans though.

He played last time Hawkins and Cameron were in the side, so he could do it again

I hope so too. But my measure of changes this year has been based on activity by Geelong social media team - and we have seen zero of Dempsey this week. I am comfortable with him developing the rest of the year in vfl but now focussed on hoping they increase his time in the midfield.

I was frustrated on Sunday as he only played good time through there in the second and third quarters where he amassed 18 good possessions over that “half”. He then languishEd in the goal square for the last quarter whilst they played the “big guns” through the midfield and the ball lived in our back half.

understand with chalcraft (who is good). Higgins, Dal, Stephens, Frank that they have others ahead of Ollie in terms of midfield time but hoping they try and prioritise his development in that area.

That may be where he ends up next year...

The frustration is that you see the good & the great from him in one passage but then tear your hair out in the next

There was a passage in the second quarter where I just fell in love with Dempsey, and it was the sort of thing that his coaches & teammates would love seeing - 2nd qtr, defensive side of the wing he attempts to handball to a teammate but misses. He doesn't stop, instead he follows up the loose ball not just once but goes in for a third time when a Richmond player gets involved - yes he made an error but he put in the second & third efforts to stay involved, & try to correct the error was really promising to see

Compare that with Narkle in the third, the ball in our forward 50 with Richmond trying to clear the ball - he goes in with his first effort, but Richmond get a handball away and Narkle turns his back on the play... It was super frustrating, and just want to see him pull the finger out & show some urgency

Yeah, but structurally I don't think it really worked that game. Similar to when Sav was in the side. Unless the extra tall can do a bulk of the ruck work, the role can be a bit unclear.
